Will come back again

The restaurant is a little hard to find but it's totally worth it. You can get to the restaurant via U2 Spittelmarkt and it's about less than 5 minutes walk from the station. Superb meal, good service and lovely atmosphere in this great place away from the main drag. Sophisticated without trying too hard. Simple, clean decor and some nice touches, including good bread, olives and Rosemary oil. Pork belly to die for and deserts (melting chocolate fondant and rhubarb Mille feuille with sorrel ice cream) well worth trying. House red well chosen.

It's not in an area surrounded by bars and restaurants but we're glad we found it. Warm and inviting with friendly service, great food and nice wine from their own vineyard. Highly recommend.

We found this restaurant looking in an airline magazine and we are very happy we tried it! It was a bit difficult to find and not central but oh so nice! Immediately when we came trough the doors we could feel the atmosphere. The service was excellent and the wine was absolutely great. The mixed grill was very nice. Not... More

I have to concur with the comments about the pork belly - quite divine. And all of the other food we ate was of the same standard. However the prices reflect the quality of the establishment so it isn't cheap! Portion sizes are on the reasonable size so we managed pudding this meal. Service was very good despite a large... I went to this place based on recommendations I read on Tripadvisor and conveniently, it was less than 10 minutes walk away from my hotel. I made a booking online via their website before arriving in Berlin and it was a straight-forward experience. The pictures of the restaurant on their website and on Tripadvisor do not do justice to the... More

The Weingruen restaurant was recommended by my friend from Berlin. The location is a few walking minutes from Alexander Square in the centre of Berlin. The service is very polite and helpful. The food was was great and the selection ok. I like small menus. Especially the Riesling from the winery of the owner was great. The value for money... More

Turned up without a reservation, and was welcomed in. A very classy atmosphere, extended to anybody. Wonderful food. Best pork belly I've ever had. Very happy to see a dog was also allowed in. I'd visit Berlin again just for this resteraunt.

Back to Weingruen for a dinner with friends. The menu is not extensive, but unique. This time , I opted for the crispy fried pork belly, initially a bit scared that this could seriously impact my diet. Not so. The portion was generous, the meat was not greasy at all, very tasty and hot. Service and wine offers by the... More

The Rotisserie Weingrun provides a wide range of wine selection and an excellent roasted/grilled meat and salmon which made it famous in the city. The quality of the food is very good. The meat is fresh and there is a nice selection of sides. Considering the list of wines served, it lacks of charcuterie and cheeses selection, which are normally... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
