Good food and beer

Sausages, sauerkraut and cucumber potatoes, plus BEER! Other items on the menu seemed expensive. Very busy place.

We were tired after a full day and stumbled into this place. The waitstaff was very nice and welcoming. The food was wonderful! Had the Weiss worst, a sausage platter and something with a big potato knoodle. It was all delicious. The atmosphere was charming and we took some pictures discreetly, trying hard not to be obnoxious tourists! Would definitely... More

Good food and good beer but the attendance was terrible. The waiters didn't gave any attention to us. When we received the bill we call the manager and said why we won't pay the tip. He said OK and also didn't take care about that. Sarkis and Elaine on May, 28 2015

Turned up as part of a party of six (three couples) without a reservation at 7-30 pm on a Friday night. The place was absolutely hopping but after a little flurry of uncertainty we were seated at a table which was ours until 9-30 when it was reserved for another party. This was plenty of time for us to have... More

We came here based on good reviews elsewhere and really enjoyed it! The decor is traditionally German but isn't dark and dingy and has a good atmosphere. Annoyingly, the meal I wanted wasn't available so I went for the meatballs and potato and my girlfriend went for the ravioli (not so traditional) but just as nice. We also tried the... More

We spent a few hours drinking and eating in this restautant. Nothing special; just typical german restaurant. We were in 7 people, so we ordered a lot and I didn't like it; one plate was too dry the second didn't taste me. Big beer means beer in 1l glass ;-)

The restaurant was a great opening for our 5 day tour of Berlin. The location is fantastic right in the center of town. Atmosphere is captivating all the best you can get in an authentic large german restaurant or beer hall. The waiter was one of a kind and took care of us with beers and pretzels. The best was... My husband and I stopped here for dinner and had a great time. They have delicious beer and delicious food and the service was incredibly helpful and spoke very clear English. We can't rave enough.

As a visitor to any German place I always stay at a brewery cafe to have a "Heffe" beer or easy dinner. We stayed on the terrace and had a nice view on the Gendarmen Markt. Very relaxing, looking at the crowd passing by. We were lucky, as the weather was great. We love these places as the atmosphere is... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
