Good German food

We arrived at this restaurant with no booking on a Thursday night and had to wait for a table. As my grannie was German I have fond memories of eating her delicious home cooking during my summer holidays spent near Heidelberg. So I love to try the restaurants that serve traditional German food & drink. I ordered the (rather expensive) Semmelknoedel ( I only got one of these) mit Pfifferlinge und Sauce. Be warned that there are many mushrooms... More

Sat inside, where it was a little warm. Good service. Our waiter directed us toward the best brats, and the beer was refreshing. The Apple Strudel for desert was very good, too. This restaurant gets busy later in the evening, so the best time to go is for a late lunch or early dinner.

The service is the worst that I have experienced in my whole stay in Berlín, you have to call the waitress if not, they dont even look at you!! After 10 minutes calling for somebody to pick our order, she took It incorrectly and did not apologies, It seems like they still have people coming in, they dont care about... More

If you are a tourist, no matter at which time you come (lunch, afternoon, dinner), there will be “only tables outside” even when there are empty tables inside with no reservation on them. I don’t know if the manager (red-head, short beard and glasses) did not like me in particular, but he gave me such answer in two occasions, with... More

Sat at a table next to one if the main doors expecting to be served quite quickly. The restaurant was busy but by no means full. A full 10 minutes went by without our orders being taken. This was despite a waiter passing the table twice. In the end we went to another restaurant along the same street with far... More

We stopped here on the second night of our holiday and it was the best german pub we went to. The beer was yummy and cheap! And the food was great. My parter had steak and said it was the best he has ever eaten and I had the veggie pasta which was great. We had Apple Strudel for pudding... More

Went to this restuarant tonight, waited 20mins on a table... Which is fine, we didn't reserve. However, when the waiter came he was extremely rude. He reluctantly took our order, looked annoyed at even our presence. Then after 40minutes came back to say the dish was no longer available, I made a quick decision to have a similar dish, again... Quick service, nice bear, generous portions and of course Der Klassiker, what else?... I liked their barrel openning at 6pm every day.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
