We dined here one Sunday evening in February and, although busy, the service was good. If you like traditional German food this place is as good as any in Berlin. Service with a smile and the atmosphere within was pleasant and suitable for all. Menu was reasonable varied and very reasonably priced. Worth a visit.

On a recent trip to Berlin we stumbled across this place on a Sunday night at 10 o clock. The menu was typically German as were the surroundings and staff who wore leiderhosen and were friendly and attentive. The food and draught beer were wholesome and when we left the place was still busy and food was being served. Would... More

We went there for a dinner. We decided to try the "Freshly baked roast of pork crisped outside with Bavarian cabbage and dumpling". We all agreed the dish name sounded better than it tasted. The "Warm apple strudel with vanilla sauce" was nice, but did not get an unanimous opinion among us. Beer appreciators enjoyed the beer (weissbier). In general... More

I lived in Munich for 1.5 years so I was excited to see a Bavarian restaurant. We stopped in for beers. It was PACKED on a Friday evening. The service was 'typical' German meaning you had to set yourself on fire to get a waiter to notice you. I was accustomed to this and found it amusing yet annoying but... More

The restaurant serves the biggest crispy pork knuckle that I have seen my daughter could hardly consume her serving.

An Augustiner Stein to go with a dish of amazing pork knuckle - certainly the place to go to given the brewery is right there.

We ate a big dinner here and found the selections and quality of food and drinks to be great. Some people have said it's a bit touristy, but didn't really feel that way or have that kind of ambience. It was reminiscient of a "typical" large Bavarian establishment, but it was all good. Food and drink were in ample portions... More

So good we visited twice in the space of 2 days, something we don't often do on holiday, especially if we're only somewhere for a weekend. We loved our first visit on a busy and buzzy Monday evening. My Wiener schnitzel was larger than my head! Super thin and delicious. My husband's knuckle of pork was so tender it just... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
