Located in Savignyplatz, we arrived late at night and beef steak was all sold out, not many choice to choose from the menu, then we tried hotpot, chicken and schnitzel, we saw every table ordered schnitzel, it was huge. The schnitzel seems to be the big attraction here. The hotpot was too salty, chicken breast was tasty.

My girlfriend and I stayed in Berlin for a few days in July and made a point of going here after seeing all the reviews. We weren't disappointed. The food is great as are the staff. It was so good we made a point of using it a few times and I would use it again. There was a good... More

I was first taken here by friends from Berlin who told me it had been a hangout for student revolutionaries in the late 1960's. It looks like some of them are still there. In any event, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really good food - I always go for the Berlin liver and apple - and large portions. Service is cheery... More

You can't beat Dicke Wirtin for "proper" German food in a relaxed, informal and friendly atmosphere. Their kasespatzle is second to none - by far the best vegetarian meal I had in Berlin - both times!! My meat eating friend also ordered the same as I was so full of praise and she was not disappointed. The men ordered a... More

Lovely atmosphere, great waitress. Had to wait a little while to eat but we hadn't booked. Busy, typical Berlin bar. Barman gave us tasters, can't be bad.Friendly and efficient. Give it a go you won't be disappointed.

We had our friends bachelorette party in Berlin. We did some research where to go eat via Tripadvisor. Dicke Wirtin seemed a great place to go try some authentic german food. We werent dissapointed. But especially we enjoyed our waiter John. He had a great sence of humor and made us feel comfortable. Every time he passed our table he... More

We decided to have dinner here due to the favourable reviews on TA. This place is a real german "Kneipe" / eatery, with REAL german dishes. I had a very good "Goulaschsuppe" and an outstanding "Rinderroulade" which my german mother couldn't have done better. Service was very friendly, fast and efficient, Drinks & food are very reasonably priced. The atmosphere... More

Lots of dark wood and very German which is what we wanted - to try traditional German food eaten by local Germans. The food when it arrived was great - huge portions and very tasty but they were under pressure in their kitchen and it took almost 1.5 hours. To be fair to the waiting staff, they brought out crisps/nuts... More

This place was packed at 8pm on a Sunday. We got the last table. People waited at the bar for the next available table. Once I started on my dinner I understood why! I had a pork cutlet with a warm pickle, onion and sour cream sauce. I would never have imagined this combination, but it was amazing! My only... More

Spent a couple of hours here, in the area outside but inside the bar area looked cosy and welcoming. Various beers on offer. Didn't eat but food looked good. Staff were friendly. Slightly more expensive than other Berlin bars as measures are .4 not .5
