We arrived without a reservation but were immediately shown to a table and told that although it was reserved, we could use it for an hour. The staff were a bit aloof but don't let that detract from why you've gone there...the food. The portions are huge, the choice varied and the beer delicious. If you want a genuine taste... More

We were advised by our hotel receptionist that Dicke Wirtin is one of the finest German restaurants around Savignyplatz, the area we stayed at during our short trip to Berlin. We decided thus to give it a shot. I personally found the place just moderate. There is outdoor sitting, no great view though, especially when compared to the other nearby... More

Definitely a must visit for the food which is truly delicious. If your coeliac or gluten intolerant, don't even bother! Even with a list of things I can't have in German, the woman basically laughed in my face and told me no, they can't make any food like that! Luckily, I'm not too bad with it. The smoke pork chop... The place is full of interesting small things, cozy and has lots of good food and beer. Very reasonable pricetag - you probably won't be able to spend more than 30 EUR per person. Can be noisy at times but this is proper for the place. Highly recommend!

If you like Schnitzel or other German food and a lot of it, this is the place for you. It is fairly crammed, inside and out, but the food is good and very reasonable, including the drinks or Beer. It is a busy area in the summer at Savigny Platz and there are a lot of places to go, but... More

If you are looking for unpretentious and not "touristy" place to experience real German food and pub atmosphere - this is it. Conveniently located yet off the main street, with a genuine local pub atmosphere. Excellent outdoor seating (weather permitting) on a quiet street, great authentic food - from salted herrings to roasted pork with sauerkraut, good selection of beers.... More

Dickie Wirtin's was very close to our B&B in Berlin and was recommended by the B&B. We ate there twice. The first time for lunch and we chose the sidewalk seating. I had delicious German-style potato soup, with bread of course; and my husband had the weiner schnitzel. It was also very good. Like most restaurants in Germany, my bottled... More

Dick Wirtin is very popular with tourists so it is probably best to book. It is really a bar which serves traditional German food from a fairly small menu. The portions are huge so make sure you are ready to eat when you go. I ordered roast beef with onions as over our stay in Berlin I was feeling quite... More

This restaurant (pub style) was quite close to our hotel (Am Steinplatz - see rave review) and was recommended by the concierge when we asked for somewhere traditional. Very busy when we arrived and hot inside, we managed to secure a table. Our waiter was excellent throughout, giving recommendations on the food and the beer. We skipped mains having been... More
