Great traditional german pub

We ate here twice during our stay, the food is fantastic and huge portions. The beer on tap is great and the wine was also. They do all sorts or liquors and brandy which we didn't try but they looked interesting. The staff were very friendly and got us a table even though we hadn't booked with... read more

I ate here for dinner on my first night in the Berlin area. The food was good, and they even had a musician playing in the room next to the bar. The only reason I gave it a 2 was because the waitress would say she would come back, but our table waited about 20 minutes for our bill. Also,... More

Colorful ambiance make this place worth visiting, even though the food is not particularly memorable (it is inexpensive and the portions are huge, though). It has a unique quality, much in the manner of Durgin Park in Boston and McSorley's in New York. The service is fast and genial.

Went to this place for traditional German food. My goal was to have a Schnitzel but I wanted to ask for a recommendation anyway- which was a great desicion. We were told to get the meat roulad and meatballs as a traditinal Sunday German meal, and they were so good and full with flavors. We were served by John who... More

I'd give this place 5 stars, but at the end of the meal they gave us the receipt and made sure to point out that we should leave a tip. I thought that was tacky, particularly in a country where tipping is not mandatory. However, it is the place to get schnitzel the size and weight of an infant for... More

Read about this place on TA. Felt like a "Cheers" like pub. The decor is very quirky and the service fast and efficient. I ordered the schnitzel and my husband the sauerbraten and the Berliner Kindl . While were eating a local soccer team came in for a post game meal. the place was rocking. It was great fun with... We stopped by twice at Dicke Wirtin while we were in Berlin. The service is great, and the staff very friendly and welcoming. Each time we were there it was mostly locals drinking beer and having lots of laughs which added to the great atmosphere of this place. If you are going to order the schnitzel here, come hungry! It... More

Delicious food, outdoor seating, friendly staff and reasonable prices! We will return! It's a great place to meet people for a drink or stay for a meal. Nice neighborhood by Savigny Platz.

We just came back from dinner at Dicke Wirtin. We both had schnitzel, a big meal, and a beer each for less than 40 euros. We ate inside where it was a bit warm but the locals do not seem to feel the heat like we do. Probably has something to do with still having snow back home just two... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
