Nice neighbourhood restaurant with German food

One of the few places in Prenzlauer Berg that serves German food and which does not have this very traditional aspect of a "Schnaps and Beer" restaurant that so many places have in Berlin. I had a wintery style goose's leg with red cabbage and Knödel, which was all excellent apart from the Knödel... read more

Great place with a nice atmosphere and original menu, local favorite. Food is excellent, lots of good wines by the glass. However, visiting on a saturday evening, we found the service service seriously lacking. While the very young and probably very unexperienced manager spend lots of time being chummy with the regulars, we (and several other clients) were completely forgotten.... More

Probably in his place you are not very wellcome if you're not a pure blood German. We arrived in the restaurant at midday on sunday. Since the menu was completely written in german i asked if it was possible to have one in english and the waitress said no. Then, since she was spiking english, i asked if she could... More

Thank you to the owner for that something "special". We really enjoyed our delicious food (deer & hazelnut-spaetzle & the impressive creme brulee), friendly staff and will definitely be coming back!

We have been to this restaurant many times the last 5+ years and we've always been very satisfied with the quality of the food - German food with a modern twist. Tonight we went to Lorbeer again and we had Perlhuhn with risotto and entrecote and for dessert zimt parfait. Very tasteful. The atmosphere at the restaurant is very relaxed... More

We have had a decent brunch in November in this nice restaurant in one of the cosy nooks of Berlin. Service was friedly (1st star), food was well-prepared (2nd star), rapidly served (3rd star), and looked optically appetizing on the plates (4th star). The omelettes were quite tasty, portions of average size. Hot dreaks moderately priced and ok, but nothing... More

Just had dinner in this small cozy place in Prenzlauer Berg. We came for the schnitzel and we were not disappointed. We also had a cheese and lentils starter, delicious and original. Plus, the neighborhood is great. Recommended.

Enjoyed a nice, delicious dinner at Lorbeer. The environment and service was warm and relaxing. The prices very reasonable. The star of the meal was the weißen Spargel. If you're in Berlin during the season, eat it whenever you can.

Ate here with family several times on a trip to Berlin and found a friendly welcome, a good choice of tasty vegetarian dishes and delicious puddings. Attentive service and good value for money. Highly recommended.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
