Real German food

I ordered Schweinehaxe, a beer and a schnaps. Special price for this meal, less than 10 Euro. Very good food if you like German food. Local restaurant with pleasant interior. Also tables outside in summer. A restaurant I always visit when in Berlin.

I read very good reviews about this restaurant and I am very disappointed! After we ordered we had to wait for beers at least 15 minutes. When we asked the waiter about the food, he didn't answer and it wasn't because he didn't understand, my boyfriend speak perfect german, but because he was drunk. All the people in the restaurant... We came to Berlin and picked to eat here. The food was great, we all ate pork and each dish was amazing. As well as the vegetables and beer. Really recommend

We ate at Zur Rippe yesterday, and reading other reviews I'm very surprised about some comments : "touristic place", "menus in foreign languages"... My experience was all the contrary, but not for the best: I got a German menu with a poor translation in English, no explanations, the waitress nearly got me out when I asked for tap water (you... We had been here previously in the week and had such a great meal and time we decided to revisit this wonderful restaurant in the fantastic NIKOLVIETAL AREA, We were here on a Friday afternoon and this place was really busy with a wonderful atmosphere. The staff in here are really good, absolutely great at looking after their customer's and... More

A small but very popular restaurant, was very busy even in Feb. Staff are really friendly and efficient and the place had a great atmosphere. The waitress doesn't speak English but there was no problem ordering what we wanted. Food tasty and huge portions - I love Eisbein but could hardly finish it - the goulash was fab too. Couldn't... Great homely restaurant! Loved the fact that it had a special asparagus menu. Well, priced and ver nice wine. The waitress did not speak great English but was really helpful and I managed some schoolgirl German so we did fine. the pork with white asparagus was delicious and we had a great cheese for dessert. Really friendly service and a nice... More

The place in itself is worth a visit. Filled with so much bric-à-brac and kitschy items, it feels like a time capsule or a museum. I would definitely recommend going there for a couple of beers. However, the food we had was disappointing. We both ordered ribs, and although we both had the large portion, it didn't really live up... More

Excellent. Great food in a nice authentic German atmosphere. Can't fault. Family dinner with nothing but praise from all. Definitely recommend.

My husband and I almost gave up looking for this cozy little restaurant but we were happy we persisted. The lady who waited on us was wonderful and the butterfish and pork ribs delectable. Certainly worth a visit!

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
