My husband and I, Americans with a strong connection to Berlin, wanted to celebrate this special anniversary not only with a trip but a party. A Berlin friend mentioned this place and we proceeded to make arrangements by email, but did a final wine tasting and discussion of the set up after arriving in Berlin. The staff was very accommodating... More

What a dreadful evening! What dreadful hosts! Berlin is a fabulous city. We were there for the 25th anniversary commemoration of the wall’s coming down. Altes Zollhaus was chosen for our farewell dinner. They agreed well in advance that they would easily be able to accommodate our group (which included a guest who is wheelchair bound and several others for... More

The heavy wooden boards as tables and the high ceiling , along that the restaurant lies by a canal, remind us of its old use, as a customs point! The food, although a bit touristic ( mind that we were a big group) was more than agreeable. We had a liver pate with green in the beginning, a very weird... More

We had a lovely dinner here. We were there late in the evening, so it was nice and quiet. It's a charming place albeit a little hard to find on foot. Our waiter was very attentive and warm. There were a few issues with the English translation of their menu (e.g. bacon was really prosciutto). Portions are generous. One nice... More

It was amazing to find such a characterful restaurant in this location. I was in a group which had reserved the upper floor of the restaurant for an evening meal. The service was prompt and the food was delicious - and portions were large. Definitely a place to visit again!

We celebrated my fathers big 80, and got fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Super! All from 1 to 83 enjoyed the evening, and can recommend this place for everyone!

As previous reviewers have noted this is off the beaten track and 5 min walk from u-bahn station but well worth it. We got taxi ride home to hotel near Hauptbahnhof at 15 Euros. The food and ambiance were excellent. It's not cheap at over 100 Euros for meal for two including wine but we thought it was value for... More

I hate to give away finds, but I will probably never get to Berlin again. Found the Altes Zollhaus in a tourist mag. the last day in Berlin. Sounded interesting so we went. It required a long Metro ride but was not far from the metro stop (sorry I can't remember the stop) . On exiting the metro cross over... More
