We went to RosaCaleta to celebrate a birthday party and it turned out to be great night. The staff is super helpful and the food is delicious.

Whenever I think of RosaCaleta, my mouth is watering in anticipation of what might be the best of European and Caribbean fusion cuisine to be had in this city. I have never set foot on the island myself, but if anything makes me want to explore the culinary landscape of Jamaica, then it is this restaurant and its adorable owners/chefs,... More

I went to Berlin with friends and found this restaurant in our guidebook. We visited on a Tuesday evening, and although it was quiet, we were able to sit outside and received excellent service with helpful but not pushy suggestions on the menu. The food itself was fantastic. There are a couple of very hot dishes, but otherwise it hews... More

At Rosa's you will find sunshine in this restaurant whatever the weather. Kirk was very hospitable, chatted with us and made us feel welcome, waiting staff and chef was very friendly. The food was delicious - authentic Caribbean cuisine reminded me of home. We had fish cakes, patties, corn bread, fried chicken, mac cheese, salmon topped off with a tasty... More

This restaurant is small and looks nothing from the outside, but once inside I can honestly say it was one of the best meals I have ever had. The food was amazing, the service was friendly and prompt and the desserts are absolutely out of this world. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Berlin!

Rosa Caleta is everything I dreamed it would be and more! LOL! We had the best time ever eating scrumptious food, engaging in superbly stimulating conversation and just taking in the scene. Reminded me a little bit of NYC. The oxtail, "brown skin gyal", mango cheesecake and white cake were orgasmic! The people, and the owner/manager were very delightful, eclectic,... More

Funky Jamaican vibe with a touch of fusion. Excellent creative twist on traditional homestyle cuisine. It's not fancy but loads of fun. There is always something happening here and it's definitely the best place for decent Jamaican food in Berlin. Kirk and Troy round out the welcoming vibe.

So we were visiting Berlin and made a reservation for 8:30 at RosaCaleta. The food and atmosphere looked perfect for what we wanted on New Year's Eve. We came in understanding that the restaurant was small and a bit overwhelmed, so we were prepared to wait. We were seated quickly but were not given menus until 20 minutes in. After... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
