A Terrible NYE Experience...

So we were visiting Berlin and made a reservation for 8:30 at RosaCaleta. The food and atmosphere looked perfect for what we wanted on New Year's Eve. We love this place. The staff, the lamp, the art and most of all: the food. We go there for years and have never been disappointed. We even celebrated our wedding there and all the guests were really happy with the quality of food and awesomeness of the staff. Even granny. If you like jamaican food, this is THE place... More

And those are the ones who order the jerk chicken or jerk tofu. Not German hot, but hot hot. Lots of amazing food and a fun place to go in a group. Kirk the owner makes a real effort to make you feel at home. Great fresh drinks and choice of wine on top of a ever changing choice of... More

Seriously! I am not kidding. This was probably the best jerk chicken I've had in a long long long time and I couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the evening. The chicken was so soft and juicy and the flavours and sauce were so very delicious. I walked past this place a couple of time, not realizing it was... More

My girlfriend researched a few places in Berlin beforehand, finding glowing reviews for RosaCaleta. We searched it out (Caribbean fusion sounds so cool, doesn't it?) as it was near our hotel. First night it was empty, so we decided not to try it. Next night, still not that busy, but we went anyway. And we were so glad we did!... More

The quality and flavour to the food is too notch. Service for a no booked table of 5 on a busy evening was excellent. Attentive and helpful, no rush at all. Food is so tasty with interesting starters and copious mains full of flavour and freshness. We loved the vibe, the food and the bill!

It is the best gem in Kreuzberg. Short walk from Görlitzer Bahnhof train stop, Artsy, trendy part of town. The food at Rosa Caleta is found no where else. Flavours, variety, creativity is unique to this place. The deserts and dishes created by the master chef Troy are comparable to none. I always finish my plate and long for more.... More

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
