Fantastic Can't-feel-your-tongue Spicy Comfort Food!

Full disclosure: I come from Singapore and I like my food really spicy. We arrived in Berlin on a Saturday evening and were craving Asian food. I had read about Hot Spot in a UK newspaper—the writer declared it authentic and super spicy and that sounded about right! We made reservations just in... read more

Disappointing chicken - both the mild with curry and pineapple (no taste of either) and the gong-bao, in which only a few flakes of chili were hot. Sweet-sour sauce ok, term also describes waitress. Pass it by, go truly Italian 500 m down the same road.

We were staying at nearby hotel & thought we'd try the Hot Spot for a Chinese meal. We have 2 children so wanted to eat early. We arrived at the restaurant at just after 5pm, where it was empty. The very rude waitress shooed us out the door saying all reserved, go. I am sure the tables were reserved later,... More

It's nice to eat at a szechuan restaurant that has spicy food. The wine list is extensive, the ones we chose were very good. Also, the food was nice. Three chili marked plates were pretty spicy, we weren't brave enough to choose the 4 chili marked dishes. We were also with someone whom frequents this restaurant so the wait staff... More

We wanted some Asian food, had just arrived in Berlin, and this restaurant was nearby. When we walked in, early in the evening, there was only one table occupied, but the rest all had reserved signs on them. We asked if we could have a quick meal and the server whisked a reserve sign off a table next to the... More

Reading reviews raving about how this place possibly has the best Chinese in Berlin, I was very much looking forward to some authentic Chinese but was rudely brought down to reality when I walked in the door asking for a seat for 1 - without trying to say a table would be available at xx time or the lead times... The food didn't have a very good taste, we ordered curry chicken (quite bad to be sincere), kung pao chicken (average at best) and some soup of beef with noodles that was disgusting. We told the lady to bring both kung pao chicken and beef soup with noodles, which in the menu had 2 chilies to show they were, average... More

I have been a regular visitor to this restaurant for some time. After trying numerous chinese restaurants in Berlin and finding them lacking, I am delighted to say that Hot Spot actually produces the authentic cuisine I learned to love during my time in Hong Kong. The steamed wontons in chili sauce, bang bang chicken and prawn Mala Daxia are... More

Hot Spot was recommended to me by a friend for their wine list. And I have to say their wine list is superior, especially for a Chinese place! Their selection on German wines is something to come here for. Food is also really tasty as the flavors are rich and dishes have been well prepared. Service is not fine dining... More
