Expensive, very salty fish, peach yoghurt sold as herb yoghurt and mini portions.

Title sums it up. 17 Euros for a main course is expensive for Berlin and the portion was ridiculously small. Hoping to enjoy a good meal at least I took my first bite only to immediately drink some water. So much salt you could barely taste the salmon. The funniest/saddest thing was the peach... read more

We stopped here for beverages and to warm up and were quite disappointed. The service was slow, inattentive and distracted. When things finally arrived, the hot chocolate was watery and the cappuccino average at best.

We stayed indoors because it was cold, but this resto had tables al fresco, facing the river. Antipasto and dessert were great. The fish was excellent, but their risotto seemed lacking character.

In this restaurant you can stay outside in comfortable lounger/hammock chairs enjoying a really nice view of Spree River. They have their own beer, which is tasty and not so expensive. They also have a good variety of teas. The train passes over your head across the river giving a nice urban athmosphere. Highly recommended if you are staying in... More

Didn't eat here, just enjoyed a beer at dusk watching the river boats and listening to some buskers nearby in the park. Just one of many options along this strip by the rail line, but it's the closest to the river.

I ordered the Ampelmann pizza and the wood-fired crust was good, but the toppings were so thin it was mostly bare crust. All in all pretty tasteless. It needed more cheese, more sauce, some olive and garlic, anything to give it some flavor. Relaxing sitting outside looking at the park and the river, but don't go for the food.

Lovely location just next to the river Spree. The service was a bit sluggish, but very friendly. The waiter brought us an English menu without being asked. The food choice is not overwhelming but the food offered is very good. Pizza was great and generous. Children will enjoy the pasta Ampelmann shapes. Perfect venue for a summers day.

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
