A real German kneipe, with good food, good beer and friendly staff. We enjoy to be a tourist in the middle of genuine pub with mostly local guests.

We came to this lovely pub for a drink and some traditional German food. Both the food and the service were excellent and you could see how popular it was by how busy it was! Definitely worth a visit!

Went for lunch there. The service was great and they have an English menu. Reasonable price (main courses about 10-15€) but the portion is big. Food is good as well. (Usually I don't eat pork knuckles but I almost finished theirs.) Overall a very satisfactory experience.

I really enjoyed this little restaurant in the city centre! It was really busy, even we came Tuesday at 17 - was no free tables, but later we got one and truly enjoyed traditional perfectly cooked dishes and German wine. I advise always to book the table in advance, so u can have a nice place next to the window,... More

Came across this lovely little bar purely by chance. Small, cosy and classic German. If you order food while it all looks good, if you don't order the pork knuckle you have made the wrong decision!! Amazing. Very reasonable prices as well.

Small bar with a large menu filled with lots of comical pictures and many classic German dishes. Food was tasted traditional and delicious especially their potato salad. The portions were good and filling. Upon complimenting the manager on the salad he responded with "it's my Oma's recipe." It was the first bar we went to during our first night in... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
