This is our kitchen away from home. We love everything about it and eat there frequently each semi-annual trip to Berlin. The staff is warm, efficient and friendly; the food including the breakfasts are incredibly tasty; the atmosphere & food is authentic German pub restaurant; menus in English as well; most staff speak English; conveniently located near a Christmas Markt... Just arrived in Berlin and found this place a few paces away from our hotel. In a word, excellent. Very pleasant staff

Loved this place. Great atmosphere, very friendly staff and delicious home-cooked tasting food. We had the Berlin Pilsner, the Berlin style soup and the Berlin bratwurst (with sour kraut and mashed potatoes). All incredible - glad we shared as the portions were very generous for the price!! We definitely recommend to anyone staying in Berlin.

Everything was great. Nice warm feeling, host was lovely, we do not speak German but menu was in English. Food was HUGE and really delicious tasted like something home made like a grandmother would make. Felt like a real German home cooked meal.

We visited this place 4 times over the space of a week. A fab little place. Great for a drink and amazing fresh German cuisine. A place that reminded me of the bar in 'Cheers', very friendly staff, a menu in English (we didn't speak much German!), wonderful atmosphere and the almost resident dog, Charlie. I'd highly recommend a visit.

I clearly recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking real Berlin food. The waiter was very nice and welcoming, even spoke French and English. We ordered a Berlin specialty and it was delicious! The quantity and quality are clearly there. After eating, he offered us a complementary shot on the house, and even took a shot with us. We left very... More

Simple, well cooked local cuisine with no particular frills, comfortable and serving good food. Saw a couple of critical reviews. Not sure those guests had quite understood they were eating in what is basically a simple family restaurant. All the food we saw looked great and was well cooked, it is a bit hard to believe the review which said... More

When we went the weather was good allowing us to eat sausages outside drinking local beer. Tasted a nice typical german dish of mincemeat wrapped in cabbage leaf. Don't feed the resident old dog or he'll never leave you. Very nice overall with good service.

We ate here one night in mid May. Previously we had been at Cafe Bleibtreu and Dicke Wirten and both were better. Krombach had the most expensive menu although not really expensive perhaps due to its location. The food was not as good as the other 2. Specifically, everything was too salty. Maybe it was just the night. There was... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighborhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
