We ended up here by accident. We had traipsed round for an hour trying to decide where to eat and stopped here because we were too tired to go anywhere else and they had an English menu outside. So glad we did! Had two lovely glass of wine, husband has the obligatory large beer and a cocktail so both of... More

We had one meal here, we got the nachos and calamari. The calamari was battered and quite oily, and the nachos were just corn chips with melted cheese, served with tiny pots of sour cream and salsa. Probably slightly overpriced considering the quality, but the waiter was lovely.

Myself and a group of friends was looking for somewhere to eat at on our first night in Berlin. We just happened to find the Louisiana kid, I'm very glad that we did. The menu is bilingual, in both German and English. The food was amazing, American with a German twist. Would definitely recommend a visit to anyone staying in... More

Love this restaurant! Very reasonably priced meals with a range of dishes! Myself and my partner ordered the 'Smothered Beef or Farmer's Breakfast' and 'Chicken goes Italian', both were great!! On arriving in Berlin, we were apprehensive to visit restaurants we were unfamiliar with, however upon looking at the reviews and menu we were quickly sold by Louisiana Kid! It... More

Very good with great and music and great atmosphere. Reasonable prices. Try the breakfast: good and cheap.

I went here for lunch and had the chicken pasta. It wasn't too bad, a unique flavour. However, the waitress working was incredibly rude - I did not feel welcome here because of this. She even cursed at me while I was paying the bill. I would have come back had it not being for this awful women.

Went here for breakfast. Cheap prices for a french breakfast including 2 croassaints, fruit, 3 types of ja, butter and a Coffee = 6 euros. Just a tip. Go there at early breakfast. We went there around 11.00 and they were cleaning the place.

During my stay at the Wombat's with my boyfriend (really nice hostel btw), we went to the Louisiana Kid to eat several times because its practically inside the hostel and it has a reasonable price for a cheeseburguer and general food, but when we got there the very first time the waiters were in a bad mood for some reason... A welcoming restaurant, both the atmosphere and the staff. They serve a good selection of excellent Cajun food in generous portions at reasonable prices. There is a piano (so obviously they have live music), but sadly not on our visit. Tables are widely spaced and relatively discreet. A good venue for dinner with friends.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
