A break from shopping

nothing outstanding as you may expect when you hear Lafayette. It is even 20% more expensive than in Paris, which also over the top. Good selection of wine for a department-store. Dark ambiente, slow service. Sandwiches and Quiche are fine but nothing excellent. Good, expensive and you´ll get the Lafayette-experience. If it is that what you´re looking for, ok, go... More

Following several hours of hard walking around Berlin, we were in need of a little light refreshment! Down in the basement is a real treat, tables, wine and food! All lovely! Reasonable prices, great service and great for people watching.

A fantastic french Cellar atmosphere @ the Wine Bar. The service is wonderfull, I appreciate the fact that the team speaks different languages. English, French, Italian, spanish, greek, turkish... Evrybody is welcome. Food is amasing freshly made with passion! The menu is as simple as a french bistrot, I recommends the juicy Steak Haché (Minced after order!!), Croque-Monsieur, Salade Nicoise,... More

If you are getting footsore from walking around in the Friedrichstraße area this is the place to go: Very cosy and a bit secluded from the other dining areas in the basement of Galeries Lafayette you can have a good glass of wine and delicious nibbles to see you through the day. All dishes are accompanied by their famous baguette... More

We were so lucky to get a really nice secluded table in the cosy cellar selling French wines. We were surrounded by hundreds of wines and people wandered about selecting their purchases while we ate a simple meal of croque monsieur and omelette, both with salads, followed by a cheese platter with french bread. However, the food was of excellent... More

Been here with a friend for lunch. We both took a quiche with ham and cheese, it was accompanied by a salad. The restaurant is a nice place to relax for two ladies in between the shopping. The quiche was very tasty, but it was not very French in size. In other words, very big pieces. The wine was perfect.... More

The Lafayette Gourmet is as luxurious as the upper floors. The supermarket is full of the best products selected from many European countries, though they are quite pricey. But I could not resist the temptation to sit down and have a glass of French wine. The atmosphere was cozy but still elegant.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
