Walking down the canal, this is one of the places that stand out (when weather is good). However, food is only average and service could definitely improve. I would recommend the ramen place a few metres down the street as a good alternative if you like Asian soups.

We hadn't been to Berlin before but were told by a local Berlin lady to check out this area as it had many nice restaurants along the canal side. My wife and I really enjoyed the food, it was simple and delicious and reasonably priced too. The staff all seemed happy and relaxed and we watched as the two chefs... More

When visiting my son in Berlin we love to go to Chan, especially in summer time when you can sit outside. The place is always packed, so that is also a recommendation. The staff is very friendly. We loved the food so much that we came 3 days in a row and every time the food was delicious. We love... More

Nice place, really good Thai food especially the crispy duck. Starters are also nice. Good service and very friendly ladies in the service. Best value for money. Good wines and lovely atmosphere. Absolute a recommendation when visiting Berlin.

We were looking for a simple tasty dinner option near where we were staying and Chan did not disappoint. All the fragrant staples you would expect from a good Thai restaurant and the generous grilled and roasted duck dishes were very enjoyable. Cosy, friendly and excellent value.

Delicious, very cheap, and most of the people are really nice! Curries are just perfect! Smoothies as well...do not hesitate to go there, but once u have eaten there, it is hard to go somewhere else because everything will seem bad and expensive!

We dined with a group of 5 people and all had great meals and great service from the very helpful English speaking waitress (who was actually Australian). Down by the river this would be a good place to enjoy a beer in the summer as there is a spacious outdoor area out front. The decor inside is very clean and... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
