Twice here - dinner and lunch - very good

Staying at a nearby Airbnb for a week meant that we had ample time to sample a lot of what this neighbourhood has to offer, and while on this voyage of tasting, testing and discovery, we enjoyed this place so much that we did a late dinner as well as an early lunch here on 2 consecutive days. Really good service (English spoken and English menu). Food was beautifully seasoned and really interesting. Skipped the starter as had heard that the portions are generous - good call. Also enjoyed a varied Cheese board -not tried German cheese - would recommend other cheese lovers to have a go

As a vegetarian, I was apprehensive about going to a restaurant serving German food, thinking it is all wurst and schnitzel, but I was pleasantly surprised. I had some very good, warming parsley soup and the vegetarian special, Savoy Roulade, which was amazing. My friend had pumpkin soup and the aforementioned schnitzel and was very complimentary also. The atmosphere was... More

I have never once been disappointed at Schwarzwaldstuben. The service is friendly, the food delicious (Flammkuchen and Maultaschen are my personal favourites), and the cocktails superb (try the ginger daquiri!). They also have a wonderful list of wines. Best of all is the atmosphere - sehr gemütlich.

Had a great evening here where the food was traditional and very good value. Well cooked food in really authentic surroundings we enjoyed the lively atmosphere. Booking recommended though not essential. Would definitely go back.

After reading a lonely planet review, my travel companion and I visited schwarzwaldstuben for dinner. It is centrally located and a short walk from the hotel amano. The red wine was great and definitely look at the daily specials for a fresh and affordable meal. I would highly recommend.

Walked in on a Sunday night, the place was almost full but they squeezed us into a table that had a reservation later in the evening, Had the sausage, schntzel, and also crepe dessert, All very good, particularly the schnitzel and dessert. Service was quick, straightforward, and honest, We had a couple beers, and the final bill was quite reasonable.... More

I had pork with sauerkraut and potatoes, was very good. Restaurant was recommended by a tour guide and stopped by before continuing my sightseeing. The restaurant was fairly quiet but not empty, but I was in Berlin during the low season, so service was quick. Would return next time I am in Berlin. Also note they only accept cash.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
