Hearty and tasty!

Authentic German food. We had a big cut of pork with potato salad and game sausages with berry sauce. Big German portions. Good value €40 including drinks. Busy - choice of sitting at bar, large or small table, lounges or outside. Friendly service. We'll be back!

Offbeat coffeehouse-like atmosphere with great German food and beer. Must try the pork schnitzel. Friendly service. Very pleasant casual atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Worth a visit.

Went to this restaurant as we were in the area after visiting the Hamburger Bahnhof art gallery and it was recommended in Lonely Planet - very glad we did! Had a fantastic hearty meal of pork (close to gammon), perfectly fried potatoes and sauerkraut and it was all delicious. Service was fantastic. The waitress realised after a few minutes of... More

Nice restaurant to go with your couple. Really good food, the mix starter was awesome and the draft was in the right temperature! I really recommend!!!

Excellent food and kind service. A very good quality/price ratio. Quiet area although close to the city centre. Must try the sausages and the dessert (for the latter you need to wait 15 minutes for it to be prepared, but it is worth the time).

We didn't book this restaurant but were wondering around looking for somewhere nice to eat and a very friendly waiter came out, showed us the menu and persuaded us to 'give it a try'. We're so glad we did. We sat outside to start (Berlin was around 28C that evening) but eventually went indoors as it was more atmospheric. Both... More

Our first meal in Berlin and we made a great choice. We had the Pasta Squares with Potato Salad and he Dumplings with Leek & Egg. No trouble with the language barrier.

We eat here at least once a week. My boyfriend is from the South and he loves getting authentic home cooked Schwäbisch food right here in Berlin. If you're not from Germany, note that this is traditional German food from the South West of the country. It's a true treat and different from other German food you'll find in the... More

We arrived for dinner, without a reservation but the waiter could not have been more accommodating. Delicious food, huge portions and good service, and reasonable prices too. A good pick for an evening.

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
