Good unique food in stylish setting with great service!

We went to Massai on a Wednesday night at 8:00pm and the 3 of us were seated right away. They had lots of great drinks, including delicious mango beer and cool cocktails. Unique soup, which was tasty even though I'm not much of a soup person. We got to sample complimentary falafels from the kitchen... read more

We go here everytime we come to Berlin. The food is just so great. I have never had anything like it. Anything off the menu tastes delicious. Try it!

So, we didn't really know what to expect when we stumbled upon this restaurant after a long day of sight-seeing. The menu outside looked intriguing so we went in. The décor was stylish and more upmarket than the outside would appear. Service was friendly and we were given a table straight away without a reservation (Sunday night). The waitress was... More

I was invited to Massai and had a very nice dinner there (more than average (which is overall rating I gave), but not "very good" either). If you like meat and would like to try ostrich, crocodile, springbok, zebra and other game, you will be happy here. I dont eat meat, and the vegetarian food platter I ordered was very... More

Went here on the recommendation of friends who live in Berlin. Had to wait so make sure you book if you go on a weekend so must be a popular place for Berliners to go. Atmosphere was great and service fantastic. Food unsure about, not very happy eating some of the meats my fellow guests had. I had the chicken... More

The furnitures looked really nice and the environment was so friendly, I took antelope meant and my wife the tapas vegetables and all were tasty and abundant we took banana beers and as started a sort of dumplings. The prices were quite fair and the service excellent. We didn't wait a lot and it was quite busy. I will recommend... More

Everything is massive in a way - from the furniture to the meals, so you feel a bit intimidated by the whole atmosphere, but it passes after you get used to it. The waitress didn't look to keen on doing her job, and I was disappointed to find they didn't have two of the red wines from the list so... More

It is one of my favorite African restaurants in Berlin. My recommendation: the zebra meat is tasty and well cooked and do not forget to order banana beer (you cannot drink just one bottle).

I went with a colleague on a weekday in December, so there was no outside seating. We were lucky to get a table without reservations. We both had mixed grilled platters of meat we had only before heard of on the Discovery Channel. The service was fine, too, so we were able to spend a very relaxing evening. What more... More

We entered another world when we walked into this restaurant. The decor was African inspired and tasteful. Even the rest rooms had ambience. Lights are dim and candles are lit for a romantic atmoshere. Quiet world music flows from the ceiling speakers. The menu offerings are both familiar and unique for a variety of tastes. We had the ostrich dish... More

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
