German friendlyness and good food

Tried to get a table on a saturday night with hard luck. After trying restaurant no 4 with no luck he recommend this place, and I managed to find it. Getting in it looked completely full, but the head waiter said to me that they did not let people go away so he asked me to wait and got me... read more

Make sure you get a reservation for dinner. The food is excellent and the service was very friendly. It is crowded and noisy and if you are in the courtyard area it is quite dark. We would certainly eat there again.

On a Viking River cruise here for day of tours and free time, we looked on Trip advisor for local restaurant to eat while here. Definatly exactly what folks had said. Service was excellent. We got a menu in English we could read. We tried pork shoulder and potato dumplings and a crusted fish filet. Of course we had wine... More

We selected this restaurant based on the positive TripAdvisor reviews and were not disappointed. The restaurant has to be "found" (as in, there are NO glitzy signs of advertisement to show you the way), which is quite easy once you have the address. The interior oozes German charm. We were provided English menus and a charming waitress who spoke excellent... More

Found this restaurant after a long day of travel based on yelp (yay, right?!). First thing's first: food was awesome. If you're looking for an authentic German restaurant you found it! The staff spoke minimal English but enough for us to order food and drinks. We ordered Viena Schnitzel, Pork Schnitzel and Cordon Bleu. all were hot and fresh-tasting and... More

Read about this restaurant in Rick Steve's book. So happy we made reservations in advance. The place has numerous rooms decorated in traditional decor. Food was very good and service was excellent. A dining must in Wurzburg.

One of the secret places in Wuerzburg! Hidden in a backstreet and behind a wooden door (not obvious at all) you'll find a traditional place. Wooden floor, stone oven and traditional decorations. Place is usually packed with locals and tourists. Make sure you have a reservation at night!! Food is traditionally heavy, but gooood! Just have a Schnaps afterwards and... More

Very good traditional German food which unless you were told about it would never experience as it does not publicise itself that well (from the backstreet in which it is located all there is is a shut wooden door i.e. no windows to look in, nothing!)

This is a fun little restaurant that is in a kind of hidden alley with what our kids thought was a secret door/back entrance. The food continues to be great and we will continue to visit every time we are in the city.

Had great first night in Germany here. Our dinners were typical German fare and very good. The local beer was great. We had a wonderful dinner that evening.
