My Favourite

Well, I always go to the Stachel when I'm in Wurzburg and it is still my favourite. The best fish dishes in town, melt in the mouth cooking and lovely wines. It is a very pretty and picturesque place but try and eat in the courtyard if it is fine enough as this is lovely. The only drawback is... read more

Our hotel recommended this place for dinner. It's in a beautiful courtyard. What I loved about this place was if you sat outside and it was chilly they offered you blankets to keep warm. The food and service was great.

Yet again, an excellent find on Tripadvisor. This place was amazing. My wife and I were touring Germany with some friends and had one night in Würzburg. We found this restaurant and it was one of the best restaurant experiences we had throughout the holiday. The staff were brilliant - they made us feel welcome and we immediately noticed a... More

My German is quite limited but English is not and words fail me in the quality of food, presentation, ambiance and overall experience. A restaurant over 600 y/o could descend into being a tourist trap but based on overheard conversation those present were all German but us. The manager was quite helpful in menu and beverage selection. The food was... More

We were in Wurtzburg so wanted to try the Wurz. Had a fantastic lunch on a sunny day in the delightful Stachel courtyard. Very rustic atmosphere next to the very traditional looking dining room.....great sausages with mashed potatoes and a superb smoked trout salad. A crisp rose for the ladies and a beer or two for the chaps, desert and... More

You may want to eat in this restaurant. It's highly recommended. Good food, good wine in a very nice old building in the heart of Wurzburg.

The restaurant is beautiful, very old and the food is great. Also cheap! I had the Stachel Pfaennle wich was amaizing, it costed 17 Euros. Girlfriend ate the Don Miguel tagliatelle which were also very good. I warmly recommend this restaurant for the great interior, tastefull traditional food and affordable prices! definitivly will come back.

We enjoyed two amazing meals at this restaurant last weekend. Having failed to book in advance and being fully booked, they told us they would squeeze us in after 45 mins. It is a genuinely beautiful building and the full German experience in terms of decor and good quality and portion size. The carpaccio of beetroot and trout mousse, beef... More

This was steps from our hotel and well regarded so we went in for dinner. English menus available and the young, energetic staff spoke perfect English. The food was very nice, the wine list is one of the best I've run across in a visitor oriented restaurant -- many reasonably priced local wines with generous pours. This is a good... More

We came here based on reviews and were not disappointed. We hadn't booked but were offered a table in the old courtyard which was great. The food includes some interesting homely meals, I had a pickled beef with red cabbage and dumplings. I'm not keen on German dumplings, but have no complaints as I like to experience local cuisines and... More
