The pulse of Franconia beats in the heart of Wuerzburg. You can feel it ? Or rather taste it - in the historic surroundings of the Stachel, which is a restaurant and wine bar. As a wine bar, the Stachel offers the best wines in Franconia. There is wine tasting every Saturday in the restaurant's very own wine cellar. You also need something solid to line your stomach, so that the wine does not go to your head. Franconian delicacies and the presentation is creative. He cooks authentically using locally sourced ingredients which are mostly organic ? And it shows in the taste.

Simply great

You may want to eat in this restaurant. It's highly recommended. Good food, good wine in a very nice old building in the heart of Wurzburg.

The restaurant is beautiful, very old and the food is great. Also cheap! I had the Stachel Pfaennle wich was amaizing, it costed 17 Euros. Girlfriend ate the Don Miguel tagliatelle which were also very good. I warmly recommend this restaurant for the great interior, tastefull traditional food and affordable prices! definitivly will come back.

We enjoyed two amazing meals at this restaurant last weekend. Having failed to book in advance and being fully booked, they told us they would squeeze us in after 45 mins. It is a genuinely beautiful building and the full German experience in terms of decor and good quality and portion size. The carpaccio of beetroot and trout mousse, beef... More

This was steps from our hotel and well regarded so we went in for dinner. English menus available and the young, energetic staff spoke perfect English. The food was very nice, the wine list is one of the best I've run across in a visitor oriented restaurant -- many reasonably priced local wines with generous pours. This is a good... More

We came here based on reviews and were not disappointed. We hadn't booked but were offered a table in the old courtyard which was great. The food includes some interesting homely meals, I had a pickled beef with red cabbage and dumplings. I'm not keen on German dumplings, but have no complaints as I like to experience local cuisines and... More

We eat at the Stachel often when we visit Würzburg. To our thinking it is one of the three best restaurants in a town with many good restaurants. It is an upscale restaurant in an historic building, but is moderately priced. This time we chose a garden table as it was a sunny day. So, of course it soon began... More

Picked Stachel due to the reviews and we were not disappointed. Thankfully we booked on the day and ate in the quaint little courtyard which was charming and had a lovely atmosphere. people were being turned away as we ate so book ahead. The service was great - professional yet friendly and very good advice was on hand to select... More

We are here for lunch and it was lovely. I had roast pork with dumplings and my friend had trout almondine. Looks like it gets quite busy so reservations recommended.

We loved this restaurant and wished we had known about it when we first arrived in Wurzburg rather than when we were a day away from leaving. Our lunch was simple, but delicious: flavorful consomme with shredded crepe and a generous, perfectly dressed salad composed of the freshest ingredients. The interior ambiance was charming, quiet and what one would expect... More

This is the oldest "Weinstube" in Würzburg and has several places where you can get seated: outside in the extremely charming yard, on terraces, in the wine cellar or inside the restaurant. It is however charming all over the place. The service was perfect with the restaurant manager constantly making sure that everything was okay. The wine list is long... More
