We went back twice for the haxn and 1 liter wheat beer. We wanted to try the veal leg, but didn't know we needed to call and order it at noon in order to have it for dinner.

Had a recommendation for this restaurant from a friend in Germany. As told the food & the beer is very tasty. Beer served in large pots is too good to taste. For a weak person it can be difficult to lift it. Food is good, tasty, well garnished and served very attractively. French fries are crunchy. The chicken dishes we... More

We had heard about Roter Hahn before arriving in Rothenburg but bypassed it for a day because the outdoor patio looked a little small and partially obstructed by being set in between buildings. MISTAKE. After being turned off by lackadaisical service at our first choice, we did go back here for dinner(TWICE!) and found out that what it suffered from... More

There is plenty of choice on the menu here, which my partner and I appreciated. I found that my pork medallions with spätzle were a little dry, although the portion size was nothing to complain about; it was massive! The service was perfectly friendly and quick. Overall, this is a pleasant place to eat in the evening, although it doesn't... More

This place features a great combination of food, service, friendliness, and location on a Main Street near the Market Plaza square. Many servers speak good restaurant English. Indoor atmosphere is excellent. Prices are reasonable. The soups are very good. The potato soup with bacon was excellent. The apple-horseradish soup while unusual had a sublime combination of favors without being overpowering.... More

We enjoyed a variety of food: bratwurst, kasespaetzel, potato pancakes, etc. It was all good. Service was good.

Nice place, full of people (always a good sign). We had basic Bavarian style food, especially good was the blood budding/pancakes(or something like that) with lentils and the potato soup with bacon. We actually went there twice during our trip!

I've eaten in a lot of restaurants in my time, the service here has been some of the best ever! Great recommendations, great service, pleasant, friendly, attentive, relaxed, lots of info to share...really memorable for us! If you've read/heard about the Mayor of Rothenburg who drank 3L of wine in one gulp to save the city, then you have to... More

While on a day trip in Rothenburg, the 4 of us stopped here to have lunch. Portion sizes are big and the service was very good. Lunch with a couple of drinks each was 60 euro, so great value. Located about half way up on the right side of the Main Street heading to the main square.

This is not the cheapest place but it's also not expensive. The food is amazing and authentic to the region. The service is good but keep in mind that Bavarians sit and visit over meals - don't expect fast! It's definitely worth the stop for the pure deliciousness!!
