We visited here as part of our Viking River Cruise tour. Had potato soup, bratwurst with sauerkraut and mashed potatoes, and apple strudel for dessert. It was good but not great. The bratwurst was dry and overcooked but we're not sure if it was the restaurant's fault or because we were late. The wait service was very good.

This is a lovely old building in a delightful location. The food we had for lunch was somewhat ho-hum We had potato soup, bratwurst and apple strudel. They were not bad but not particularly good either.

My own hotel's restaurant was closed, so I tried the Glocke - and enjoyed a great meal. I can only comment, of course, on the one dish I ordered: Franconian Sauerbraten, a variation on the traditional Rhenish dish with a gravy enriched by Nuremberg Christmas cookies (Lebkuchen), accompanied by potato dumplings, a varied salad, and a good selection of Franconian... This place has their own wine celler and production of the wine. Food and wine were great. Great value for money as well.

It was by default that we ended up in this restaurant as the restaurant attached to our hotel was closed on the day we were in Rothenburg..... but how lucky we were. There were two sides to this restaurant, one side we assumed were for the hotel guests who were on full "pension" ( I.e. breakfast and dinner included), and... More

Great restaurant with it's own vineyard and wines. There was not a lot of great options for vegetarians here but since I ate seafood, I was happy with the pescatarian options. A lot of meat based German dishes as you would find in many of the local hotels. But the local Germans seem to love this place... very busy! Good... More

We originally found Glocke in December 2006 while visiting Rothenburg. However, we could not remember the name. We walked all of Rothenburg until we again located it. We went on Sunday night to find it was closed for their ruhetag (quiet day). We went back on Monday and had a fabulous meal. My fiancee had the pork filets with mushroom... More

We stayed at a hotel in Rothenburg whose restaurant is rated on this site as one of the finest. Our hotel's restaurant was closed that evening, so we asked our hosts if they could recommend an alternate. They gave their strongest recommendation to Glocke; it turned out to be an excellent recommendation indeed. The food was plentiful and delicious and... More

Ate here with a prearranged menu as part of a tour. The food was good, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. Restaurant is down the hill a bit from the main square, but near the clock that all the tourists go to see. So, you can't really miss it.

A nice restaurant with a quaint atmosphere and locals eating there (always a good sign). I tried their Franconia wine that they make themselves and it was very good. My food was well cooked and good and the waiter was friendly, cheerful, and spoke good English. An enjoyable evening.
