Local Fare, reasonable Lunch

We had dinner there in September while staying in Rothenburg ODT. The food was awesome and the service (kind of a one man show) was spot on. My wife ordered the pork knuckle--it was the best pork she tasted in Germany and we ate pork a lot. The place is small and quaint but appears very authentic from the middle... More

I had read some mixed reviews but was determined to try for myself. This restaurant was ideally located near our Hotel. We dined here during the Imperial City Festival when the town is extremely busy. The owner was very friendly and offered us advice about the town. It is a small restaurant but has a great atmosphere. The food was... More

We were four hungry travelers who arrived late in the evening and without a reservation. However our host agreed to make dinner for us but with a limited choice. We were very pleased he did. The food was very good and the entertainment was included for free. Perhaps because it was near the end of the evening he spent time... More

Restaurant owner is at your service. Very helpful in explaining the menu and specials as well as the wine. Interesting casual conversation as he checks on you during the meal. You can appreciate the pride he takes in his restaurant. He even seen meticulously cleaning the chanterelle mushrooms with such care. Food is delicious!! Make sure you have reservations as... More

We dined here when it first opened at 6PM one evening. The owner/chef/waiter/greeter (does he REALLY do it ALL?!?) was so very friendly and we chatted a bit. The prices were very reasonable, my husband enjoyed his meal and thought it was "homey" - I don't really love German food so didn't love my meal. I wish that we had... More

This place was better than average but I wouldn't give it very good either. There is no star in between, so I would suggest it is better than average. The owner is waiter and bartender and could maybe part with his wallet and hire a staff to help out. It's very small but I found his need to do it... More

Very average, we have eaten much better nearly everywhere else in Germany. You should try somewhere else. Sometimes tripadvisor doesnt work, this was an example. It might have been good once, but it isnt now. The guy does tend to moan about bookings, reservations, patrons turning up late, he stands and berates patrons as they eat. The service is slow.... Following reviews we went to the restaurant and boy was it good. We had the special with chanterelle mushrooms and it was so delicious!!! I had the pleasure of talking to the owner. He is so dedicated to his food. He has a small place and it is nice how he explained how the German rustic cooking is done. We... More

We arrived without reservations right at the opening. We had a group of 9 including a baby. The owner seated us without delay, accommodating the baby. We did not encounter any racism, as one of the previous reviewers indicated. We were a diverse group, including Germans, Americans and Mexicans. The food was great, focused on local cuisine with good meats,... More
