Using local seasonal produce is central to the creation of this modern German and international cuisine. Nowadays it is imperative to know what you eat and drink, hence we put the greatest emphasis on the quality of our food, thus most of our meat is purchased from local farmers. Being cooked and delivered in an imaginative yet no-nonsense manner it has made dining at The "Deutsches Haus" an experience in its own right.
Our ,,Ancient German" restaurant seats 90 guests in three locations. During the summer meals are also served on our spacious terrace opening onto the "wine-market".

Superb cuisine in a place with some history

Had a fine dinner here. Venison main course and chocolate cake with citrus were excellent; fois gras entree almost as good. With beverages it came to €80 all up (for one), so not cheap. The restaurant is in the ancestral house of the Counts of Drechsel-Deufstetten, a fine specimen of the German... read more

This is a beautiful restaurant and the food was good. Unfortunately, the rude reception we received from the head hostess upon walking in the door cast an ugly shadow over the entire experience. We had just left the Christmas market, so two of the four of us in our party were carrying empty gluhwein mugs. She accosted us at the... More

Lived in Germany several years, and visit often. Had never been to Dinkelsbuhl, so stopped in to see markets and have lunch. This is a fantastic restaraunt, and I would recommend the old school German menu. Sauerbraten and spaetzle are great, and the venison stew is the best I have ever eaten. If in this town, stop here.

The restaurant is OLD. The history goes back a few hundred years, and the wooden beams and paintings on the walls are just fabulous. The white table linen adds to the elegance of the place, and the food, just wonderful. This is all part of a great travel experience - dining in wonderful places. No time to be "cheap." How... More

Atmosphere: perfect. Service excellent; our waitress spoke excellent English, and the manager stopped by to check on our table several times. Food also excellent. Prices cover a wide range, from a sausage dinner under 10 euros to roast venison at 36. Wines: good our waitress told us that the wine carafes contained a quarter liter, when actually they held only... More

The menu selection and heavy timbered ambience in the hotel suggested that it would be expensive but we were very pleasantly surprised at the excellent value combined with warm and friendly service and outstanding food for adults and children alike. Combine that with a local dinglesbier or frankenwein and it is hard to beat. This sort of place is what... More

It's my second visit to this restaurant and the experience was just great. We were in a group of 14 people and all of us raved about the food which was excellent and well presented. The service was exceptional as it's not easy to serve all 14 people at the same time, especially when we all ordered different dishes. Highly... More

Location: in the heart of the city. There is no bettet place. After 17hoo you can park for free till the next morning. Otherwise it would be bettet to park outside the inner circle. Building: this is a typical building from 15th centary. Lot's of wood, steep stairs, but rooms are renovated. You will like it. If you like to... More

Group of 7 for dinner; nice table outside on a warm evening. The food at the Deutsches House is wonderful; nicely prepared, fresh local ingredients and a menu including typical Franconian dishes. All highly recommended, as was the service until we paid by Visa card. The waitress brought the bill, took my Visa card, I entered the pin in the... More

Wonderful, cosy and warm hotel. Situated in a very nice typical Bavarian town. A lot of wall paintings and medieval pictures are decorating this hotel. The room was brand new and extremely big. Fantastic, clean and big bathroom with nice rain shower. Cosmetic products from good brand. The room was extremely quiet, no noise at all. For breakfast everything was... More
