How can it be otherwise? The Brauhaus 1516 in Augsburg specialises in beer. The Metzacker Brewery brews Zwickl beer exclusively for the Brauhaus 1516. Strong, home-brewed unfiltered beer comes straight from the tap in Ingolstadt. Anyone wanting to test their own strength should order the Currywurst Brauhaus Kini with 600,000 SCU units. Both brewery establishments, however, specialise in Bavarian/Swabian cuisine and offer delicacies such as Schweinshaxe (knuckle of pork), Weiwrste (veal sausages) and Kaiserschmarrn (sweet cut-up pancake with raisins). There is an extensive menu which also caters for vegetarians and children. You will get a decent meal and be treated to live music. The Brauhaus 1516 in Augsburg always puts on new events such as the Salsa Bavaria. This is where guests dance salsa dressed in dirndls and lederhosen. The venue also arranges Oktoberfest and country parties and cabaret evenings to add variety.

good traditional food

Very handy close to ibis hotel and train station, where there are not a large number of restaurants. Good atmosphere. Lsrge servings, friendly service and reasonable prices.

Popped in with family before getting the train as nephew lives here and said it was good. We had some simple food and there were no issues. Watched Bayern Münich play on the telly as well!!

Until we found this place, it was usually a snack from somewhere else. Now its a must to arrive early at the station so we have to wait in the 1516. Excellent food and beer. Huge portions. Very good value for money. Forget the Macdonalds and othe fast food places near the station. This is by far better.

Superb brew pub on Augsburg station. Schweineshax'n (roasted pork knuckle) with beer sauce and potato dumplings was excellent, as was their own brewed beer. Be sure to also sample the Riegele Aecht Dunkel, brewed round the corner (at the Wirtshaus Riegele).

We had a traditional Bavarian style meal here - inexpensive, good quality and quantity. It is quite large and people are coming and going all the time. Quite busy atmosphere - large groups playing cards, locals, tourists, couples. You eat at long tables so may be sharing with others. We enjoyed it

My brother has lived in Augsburg for many years. 1516 has become a tradition. If you have never had Schweinshaxe (roated pork knuckle) 1516 does an incredible job. It beats Hofbrauhaus Munich hands down. They even have a veggie burger. 1516 has taken traditional German and added a modern twist… Very well done. If you are not in the area... More

Location in the main train station, good menu selection as a reasonable price. Local beer and pork knuckle platter are a perfect combo!
