We were in port for just a few hours whilst on a river cruise and were recommended this cafe for chocolates. It was slightly raining and we decided to get a treat and a table for shelter. We ended up having the best coffee and strudel of the trip. The chocolates were luscious...rich...decadent. Everything you want in chocolate. I believe... More

One of the best cafes in Passau. Great cakes, wonderful ice cream and coffee, served by and charming staff.

We just happened upon this lovely cafe as we were walking around Passau. We are on a long cycling trip across Europe and were wanting a small lunch. The pastries are AMAZING. You will never have such lovely tortes, cakes and coffees. I had the potato pancake with tomato sauce and mozzarella and basil with a small salad. My husband had... More

Stopped here for coffee and a cookie while on a mission to buy gingerbread cookies to take back to the US. Everyone told me Cafe Simon was the place to go for gingerbread. They gave me a sample when I walked in and I immediately knew everyone was right. Amazing cookies and a nice little cafe with friendly wait staff,... More

As part of walking tour, we watched a demo on how gingerbread cookies are made. I definitely like the ones made out of sugar instead of honey or marzipan. We brought home 6 bags for families and cocoa mix. The other cookies and cakes were also delectable.

Meeting several generations of gingerbread makers was one of the highlights of the tour of Passau. It was great to see such pride in their work and see how traditions are handed down from generation to generation. They gave us several types of gingerbread to try and told us the history of this winter tradition.

We managed to catch a Gingerbread demonstration at the Cafe, the gingerbread was that good we went for a walk around the Christmas Market and Passau town before returning for lunch. There was a large choice on the menu, we had a really good lunch, Elder Simon, stopped by our table for a quick chat and to wish us a... More

We stopped by Cafe Simon to see a demonstration of how Lebkuchen (Gingerbread) was made, really interesting with ample samples available to try, also some excellent Glühwein to keep out the cold! The Cafe and attached shop looked so nice we decided to come back later for a coffee and pastry, what a good decision that was! When we returned... More

We made a visit to Cafe' Simon, while in Passau. Met the Elder Simon and his Son who is now the owner. We were fortunate to see how the dough is made and a sample of the products. Had Glühwein which on that cold day was wonderful.

This place was recommended by our cruise ship. We stopped in for cake only, but they also serve lots of different foods. We had a cake with vanilla, walnuts and Kirsch. It looked like a Napoleon but had the walnut cake-like layers rather than phyllo pastry. We split one slice, and it was so moist and delicious. My husband had... More
