The food is so good we went back the next night! It is a cozy little place where you feel quite welcome. If there is no table free, you are invited to join another table and you are greeted nicely by the diners. The food is great. Authentic, tasty, home-style cooking. You will want to come back!

I came here in the summer 4 years ago and when my business trip took me back to this area I knew I had to go back. It's a tiny family run restaurant that is very cosy inside. The menu is small but trust me, the food is good. I had my 2 colleagues with me and they were pleasantly... More

My meat loaf ("fried meat patty" on the English menu, "fleischkuchle" on the German) was only okay, but around me the German diners were having crispy roast duck, gigantic pork chops, and braised beef, and digging in with gusto. I imagine that the average quality of their dishes is pretty high, and will rate it according to what I saw,... More

Stopped here for lunch. Super food and service. The local pfifferlinge mushrooms were in season. I had them in a dish mixed with scrambled eggs and bacon. Very good. Super schnitzel too. Nice selection of wines. A Franconian Chard was super and well priced at 20 euros for a 1 liter bottle. Cheap by German standards.

This restaurant is in the Old City of Nuremberg. When you go in the front door your turn right and go down the steps marked Gasthous. Friendly helpful staff. We had pork shoulder and cheese spätzle. They were both excellent.

For 15 euros we had a nice typical german dinner (just one plate) "Ofenfrisches Schäufele mit Kloß und Wirsing" . It was rosted porc shoulder with Kloß (impossible to translate), vegetable with a good dressing, and a glass of wite wine. Typical room, nice service, a good choice.

This place was easy to find and the food was good and prices very fair. Will go back. Its very small so a reservation would be needed.

Had our hotel make reservations as we were turned away the first night. Reservation card was on the table, all smooth. As is the case most places, waiting staff is generally not adequate for busy times. Waitress was pleasant and had English language menus. Food served reasonably quickly, very tasty. Only problem we had was getting the check which took... More

We arrive Nuremberg on the evening of Dec. 8, 2012 with friends to visit the Christmas Market. Upon venturing up a side street in Old Town we came upon Zur Baumwolle where we were graciously welcomed and delighted to share a table with a German couple. What a fun time we had! Service, food, drink and hospitality was superb. A... More

This restaurant is located off the Koenigstrasse but you will thank your lucky stars for finding in. Service was excellent and the dishes simply yummy. The reatsurant offers the typical "Frankonian" fares and my friends and I I tried the Nuernberger Sausages. Mine came with roasted potatoes but I tried some of the sauerkraut, and was not disappointed. Prices are... More
