Description: Munichs Restaurant Nymphenburger Hof shares a name with a Baroque palace a few miles away - a magnificent example of living Bavarian history and a top tourist attraction. This relatively small and friendly restaurant is especially beautiful in summer, when the flower-filled private courtyard - separated from the road by a screen of trees opens. Everyone gathers outside beneath the parasols. Like Nymphenburger Hofs clean, elegant dcor, the cuisine is cosmopolitan and international, inspired by what used to be known as the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Examples include Wiener schnitzel (veal scallop), and tafelspitz (a traditional ox-based dish and the favorite of Austrian Emperor Franz Josef). Restaurant Nymphenburger Hofs well-stocked cellar similarly stands out for its top-notch Austrian wines, an achievement earned through years of developing a close relationship with Austrias leadings vintners. Which partly explains the popularity of the monthly-changing gourmet menu with recommended wine pairings.

I know Munich is an expensive town, this restaurant is good so they keep prices high, that's the market baby. But I don't like the way they make money, I find it not so transparent, especially for German habits. Just after sitting down the waiter asks "Do you want a glass of champagne for aperitivo? " Ok, good, we ordered... More

In our plan for visiting Munich, we decided to book for a table for 2 people in this restaurant in view of the good comments. We booked 3 weeks before through the online reservation option in the website of the restaurant in English language. A few minutes later we received an e.mail of confirmation. Our disappointment came when we attended... More

I think that I had one of the most exciting dinners of my life there. And the desert (caffe-mousse) was of such a quality that the Michelin guide should consider... We have to go there!!!

Besides the price and the white Table cloths and Napkins for which you have to pay 1,50 Euro extra to use on top of the overpriced and very small portions which are served here I do not see anything upscale. The Restaurant is narrow, has 2 rows of tables, in the center a " walkway ". nothing here which would... More

I made reservations at this restaurant based on a TripAdvisor recommendation. Our waiter, Werner, assisted us with the menu and was attentive to our preferences. There is a lovely outdoor patio but rain prevented us from eating there.

Just went back to the "Nymphenburger Hof" in January, and it still has the best Austrian cuisine. The service is as knowledgable, friendly and attentive as it can get, and the wine list is great. The restaurant is always decorated with fresh flowers, and there is a piano player on some days of the week. All in all, fantastic food,... More

The food was authentic German (Bavarian) and the servings were just right. The seating in the yard, under old trees, was perfect. Though I spoke German the waitress made an effort and spoke English to my wife and kids who didn't understand the german language. Thumps up.

We had dinner in the courtyard, which is nice and summery. We arrived early and the service was very good for the first half hour, after which more people arrived and things slowed down dramatically. This place is relatively upmarket, so many people were fairly dressed up. We had the ox cheeks with noodles and celery purée, which was very... More

We had a great evening at this restaurant. Very much enjoyed the daily set menu (they have an a-la-carte menu list too). The food was fresh, balanced, authentic and very tastefull. But the wines that were served with the menu courses really made the experience very special. We enjoyed some of the best Austrian wines. At only 25 euros extra,... More

We have been at this restaurant several dozens of times, and were never disappointed! The menu changes regularly with a perfect blend of Austrian and Bavarian dishes, all prepared freshly. The set menu varies by-weekly and the kitchen has a lot of patience and sympathy for individual alterations. The wine list comprises mostly of Austrian wines, and the owner is... More
