Probably one of the better restaurants around but plan well ahead of when you want to eat there. It is rather small --so seating is limited.

Very nice restaurant, great food, delicious, good service, and as the name suggests, great wine selection.

I found myself in Munich for a night before my flight back to the US. Luckily, I found this great restaurant near the Munich HBH. Food was fresh, delicious and well prepared. I enjoyed cheese plate and and prosciutto before having the penne. Service was prompt, friendly and enjoyable. Just what I was hoping for. If you need a hotel... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant not knowing the area very well. Unfortunately all the tables were booked but the waiter suggested that we could sit and even eat in the lobby area of the hotel. They quickly transformed the a few of the lobby tables of the Excelsior Hotel in to a dining area. The staff are ever so friendly... More

Picked this place based on the good reviews in trip advisor and the great pictures on the website from Geisel's . Neither the website pictures or the reviews lived up to my expectations. The restaurant is relatively small and hence only ONE corner table in the place for two which was on this night occupied. We were seated in the... More

This is obviously not for beertrinkers, but while I expected top flight wine, and YES, the selection is huge!! I was really surprised by the quality of the food. Enjoyed a great night out

This place is part of the Excelsior Hotel, but open to anyone. It is small and the decor is certainly not fancy. But the food is truly excellent - down-to-earth, almost homely dishes but so well executed you immediately want to come back. The menu is not long and wisely achieves quality through focus, but the wine list is extensive... More

If one stands with the DB tracks at one's back, Schutzenstr is directly ahead and the Hotel Excelsior is a few doors down on the right. Geisel's Vinothek is on the ground floor of the Hotel. It is a small room with a short menu, but what they offer they prepare and serve flawlessly. They have an English menu in... More

As you might expect from the name, wine is a big deal to this restaurant and the choice is seemingly endless. They do have very reasonable wine by the glass, and the staff are knowledgeable and happy to help with recommendations. The food was absolutely delicious. I had duck for a main course, which was cooked perfectly, and had lots... More

We struggled to find somewhere to eat in munich that wasn't a burger joint or similar. We couldn't get booked into this restaurant on any of the three nights we were in the city but we were advised to book for the bar. It had the same menu as the restaurant. The staff were very attentive and it does have... More
