This place is also known as Maria Gandl. A reservation is generally needed to enjoy this restaurant. It was recommended to us by a person we know who has lived in Munich. We found the service and food to be very good. It was October when we visited and there were a number of pumpkin dishes on the menu which... More

Serendipity: our group of 4 set out for dinner at a specific restaurant in the Lehel district of Munich, one evening, and were sort of lost when a nice gentleman suggested an alternative.... the nearby Gandl for a fine dining experience. A fine recommendation. Although there is nothing wrong with 'hofbrau-style' eateries in Munich's Old Town, Gandl in the Lehel... More

The restaurant is in an old shop, the interior is listed on the monuments list. Very charming place, great food, nice staff. Don't hesitate, go there :-)

We have eaten here on our last 3 or 4 trips to Munich and look forward to our return visits. The atmosphere is low key but attractive and the premises is a combination restaurant, wine shop and gift shop. The menu offers a limited selection but there is always a sufficient variety of excellent soups and salads and good fish... More

A very nice restaurant, waiters took good care of us. The menu card is not too long but a good choice. The salade as entry very fresh, well prepared and tasty. The Loup de Mer took unusual to be served. A restaurant of this reputation most say something and apologize and not let us wait what seemed to be an... More

whilst location is nice as it always has been, service has suffered and food combinations do not really hit the fence anymore. They are trying hard to differentiate foodwise, but a bit more down to earth would do better

Spotted this place while wandering past and decided to give it a go. Both inside and outside had a great old world feel - more like Paris than Munich (no offence Munich), we arrived early on Thursday evening and it was quite quiet yet by the time we left it was full capacity. There was a nice relaxed atmosphere and... More

This restaurant needs to upgrade its appearance from the outside as looks more like a shop. Even inside many unusual features for a restaurant. However the service and food were excellent. Not the cheapest. For 2 of us, 130 euros for 3 courses with one bottle of wine. I'd certainly eat there again.

The photo says it all. Had to ask for some sauce because it was so dry. Had to ask for salad which came eventually. Very disappointing evening in what should have been a beautiful family treat.

I went to Gandl because it was recommended by my hotel, and it was only 100 metres away, so I thought I wanted to try it. However, due to Easter, it was closed most of the time. That was a bit impractical, but fortunately there are other restaurants in Munich. I was there once where I had a sort of... More
