A blessed relief afer so much meat and beer

Don't get me wrong, I love schweinshaxe and beer! But after 4 days of it, we were desperate for some fish and wine! We came across Austerkeller on Tripadvisor, and were not disappointed. The setting is somewhat retro (old fashioned) but elegant. The clientele upmarketand slightly older... read more

We were looking for some seafood place in Munich and based on tripadvisor reviews we booked this place. General feedback - Average and overpriced meal. One time visit. Probably our expectations were too high based on the reviews, but it was a complete culinar disappointement. The service was good, the place decor not exactly our taste, but overall is nice.... The 'Oyster Cellar' (English translation) is a fantastic spot hidden away off a back street of Maximilian street. As you walk in, your coat is taken for you and you are seated on one of the many lovely tables inside. This underground location was full, the atmosphere was great and the service was impeccable. We ordered dishes from across the... More

I go there often. Especially in the winter. One thing I love about this place is that it's been around for over 35 years and I've never been disappointed. The food is very good (would not say great). The interior is tasteful. It has a French touch to it and reminds one of interiors at the Côte d’Azur. Service is... More

After being a little tired of typical German fare, we tried Austernkeller for dinner for one of our two nights in Munich. We split an appetizer that had seared tuna and a salmon mousse that was very tasty. I had the skate while my husband had the bouillabaisse, and he's still talking about how good it was. We then both... More

This restaurant was very near our hotel, Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten, and was recommended by the concierge there. The restaurant decor is charmingly dated, but interestingly so as I often found myself glancing around the room. Everything was delicious: the bread, the wine, the shellfish, the soup and the fish. Our server was a charming older man, and a true professional... More

Very fresh seafood near the Munich shopping area. Wife had the scampi that consisted of 3 very large tiger prawns, sliced in halves and very nice looking on plate. Had the bouillabaisse which was good but consisted more of fish vs shell fish. On next visit there, plan on ordering the sample seafood platter that later saw being prepared and... More

I have visited this restaurant many times in Munich. This is the best ever for having a very good seafood in high class restaurant. It is expensive comparing to other restaurants, but I believe it deserves the money paid for. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is another beautiful thing. Very much recommended.

Having had some heavy Bavarian food we fancied a change and this provided it perfectly. A great selection of seafood including beautiful oysters and a nice change from the lake fish that tends to be all you get in this part of Germany
