Excellent German food

We went to this restaurant one evening because close to our hotel. An excellent choice, typical local German restaurant, out of tourists way so a place for locals. We have been taken to this restaurant by our order son who discovered this hidden restaurant last summer abile ha ing a walk. The place is nothing special, a traditional Bavarian restaurant not particular attractive. What has impressed us was the quality of the food: we decide to go for a typical "Advent goose" and our wifes had the duck,... More

The Wirtshaus zur Marienburg is nestled in the middle of a housing village. It is not difficult to locate if you consult Mr.Google Maps. As we entered the restaurant, the sounds of wood crackling in the fireplace was very inviting in the middle of winter. We were offered an English menu and ordered the roast pork & 1/2 roast duck.... Lovely warm atmosphera, a bit trendy to it as well. I had not very high expectations visiting it the first time a few years ago, how wrong was I! The food is tasty, very well-presented, sensibly priced (not cheap, mind you), very well-balanced and a nice intereresting choice as well. Been a few more time, perfect every time.

My wife and I hopped on a bus from our hotel at Arabellapark and walked the rest of the way here. Waitress was very friendly and the food was very good. I ordered a pasta made with chanterelles, which were in season and my wife ordered pork medallions with chanterelles. The soups were awesome too. I would love to eat... More

Not easy to find unless you are a local resident. Great ambience and food,. Well worth visiting especially if you are staying in the Neue Messe Hotel which is a short walk away

We had early dinner and the place was quite empty, just several local guests were chatting at the bar. Ambient was great and with fireplace it feels warm and like at home. Staff was very helpful. Menu has modest selection, there are several weekly specials. All the food we ordered came quickly and was delicious. Next time I have to... More

This is definitely a "locals" restaurant, hidden away in a residential area away from the centre of Munich. But it is easy to get to on the S-Bahn. Take the line that goes to the Englschalking station (about 15 minutes or so from more central areas in Munich). After leaving the platform, walk along the street where the bicycles are... More

Great local specialities and great service. They even asked if we needed a menu in another language or if we needed help on choosing. It was really the worth walking 20 min to it from the hotel.
