we went here the night before our reservations for one of the Augustiner tents at Oktoberfest. The place was packed! Great band playing German music. Lots of energy. And the food was amazing!!! The beer was even better. Wish we had it here in the states. Definitely worth the trip.

... the Augustiner Munich brewery, one of the very few still autonomous, not part of a big chain, one of the last, if not *the* last independant bavarian breweries, that makes *good* fresh beer! - Also the food is really well in this place, and it is a bit cheaper than in the other, more "tourist" locations of the same... The actual beer hall is lively and looks authentic. However, the food we had (Schitznels and chips) wasn't great (very dry/overcooked) and we had much better versions elsewhere. I'd recommend it for a night of fun beer drinking, rather than as a dinner destination.

The Augustiner Braustuben is the authentic Augustiner brewery tap and the beer hall is actually built into the brewery, encompassing what was the former staff canteen. Augustiner Helles is served direct from the wooden barrel during the evening busiest hours and at €2,65 a half litre is the best value beer in the centre of Munich. The meals are excellent... More

Augustiner Beer is my favourite Munich brew, therefore this restaurant is going to score highly :) In all seriousness there is always a good atmosphere, food is freshly cooked but delivered speedily to the tables. Traditional Bavarian fare is the main choice on the menu, and the staff have always been cheerily helpful.

I guess this opened in 1300 so they have had a lot of practice. Some good Bavarian cooking and hometown feel as this is not a big tourist spot like HofBraus Haus which is a high priced trap. Go here for a hot meal and reasonable prices.

We visited on a rainy Munich day. Looking for good beer and a snack we were not disappointed. There was a basket of pretzels on the table when we arrived, and we thought they were free, as a bread basket would be. We were surprised to be be told by the waiter that the tables are set with a certain... More

Still an authentic German beerhall. The food was excellent (try the roast pork), the beer delicious (try the dark). Group seating, meet new friends! Enjoy the music, the ambience, the food, comradeship, and the beer!!!!

Best and cheapest noble beer in town and the food is pretty good too. Worth the little walk outside of the city. They don't do intimate so Expect to be in a party mood. In fact no sooner had I perched my bum on a seat a glass of schnapps was thrust into my hand from our welcoming German hosts.

We had a great evening here. There was nearly 20 of us and we ended up on the Brewers Tables. One of them wouldn't leave and he was nearly having dinner with us. The food was average but if you are having a few pints it is good soakage to keep you going. We had our own keg of beer... More
