Last night in Munich stumbled upon this neighborhood gem. No reservation but they found a way to accommodate us in full house. Charming lively crowd filled inside. Service casual very friendly, fun and helpful. Had trout stuffed with spinach and apple. Literally melt in my mouth. Great inexpensive wine selection. Carpachio fabulous. After dinner cognac, their own a must try.... More

After eating here, many other places seem so mediocre. The food is so good, however, that I find myself trying too many things and consuming more than I should.

La Basserie is a small restaurant in a residential neighborhood a couple of blocks from Nymphenburg Palace and close to Hotel Laimer Hof where we were staying. Another guest at the hotel recommended it and I agree. The service was fabulous and the food was excellent. Our entrees were grilled whole boneless trout (Forelle im Ganzen vom Grill) and steak... Right down the street from our Hotel. Nice setting in the neighborhood. Nice patio. And the Food was delicious . Each of us got something different & we all raved about our choices! Plus the Dessert! Wish we had eaten there sooner in trip!

My wife and I dined here in October 2010 ( I just found my notes from out trip) and it was incredibly. Hotel Laimer Hof recommended it and and we weren't disappointed. Everyone was friendly. We stopped in for desert and wine and were amazed at how delicious everything was. I think we drank 2 or 3 bottles of wine... More

The best meal we had in Europe, a great change from the heavier German fare. My mother moaned with joy at every bite of her risotto. My lamb was fantastic. I highly recommend this establishment. Please remember to thank the chef and the hard working kitchen staff. They work for hours preparing the evening meal that we all eat in... More

We ate dinner here mainly because it was recommended by our hotel and it was only one block away. It turned out to be one of the best restaurants we have eaten anywhere in Europe. Our server was attentive, gracious and efficient. He spoke very good English which was most helpful although he did provide an English menu as well.... More

My wife and I ate at this restaurant on our last night in Munich. We fancied a change from Bavarian cuisine and this restaurant was recommend by our hotel (Laimer Hof). We were not disappointed. My wife had a potato soup to start which was very good. I had my first experience of snails to start and I really enjoyed... More

Stumbled upon this place staying across the road at Laimer Hof Hotel. Quite possibly the best all-round meal and service anywhere, ever. You know it will be a good feed when locals travel across Munich to eat here. French cuisine to exacting German standards. There is nothing to dislike about this place. Track it down and you will not be... More

The server was clearly annoyed by the fact that we were not German. Everyone else around us was efficiently served, while it took us 45 minutes to get something to drink. We were quiet and patient and treated disrespectfully in return, including never getting our appetizer. This was not our overall experience in Munich. Food, once it arrived, was good... More
