Followed TripAdvisor reviews and was not disappointed! Close to the Rathaus area, this was a fun local food experience - we went for lunch but could see for casual dinner w family or friends. Traditional German atmosphere w long tables and benches, friendly service and a great menu. Sauerbraten and red cabbage to rival my grandmothers! Would recommend to others... More

Had a great evening here. Greeted by name at the door on our first visit - seated at a very nice table immediately and very well looked after by a very friendly waiter who joked with us in English and was attentive without being overbearing. Great food - HUGE portions - take it easy on the pretzels. Amazing house apple... More

Ate here twice, so yes, it must have been tasty. Down an alley off of Tal. Old world German tavern inside with big wooden tables and serving Bavarian favorites and beer. I was raised in a German-American home so found many of the family favorites on the menu and they all were like Oma made. Don't let the ingredients scare... More

We enjoyed new years eve dinner here and Claudia was most helpful in making a great effort to accommodate us at the restaurant which was full at the time. The food was delicious with an extensive menu including traditional dishes. We also received the best advice from a waiter on where to best experience the Munich new years fireworks -... More

We booked this place for 1st January as we wanted to make sure we got a table somewhere that night. We were told by email that we would likely share a table with other diners and that if we were late the booking would not be kept. On arrival I could see why they wouldn't keep the table as the... We wandered in cold and hungry around 4:30 pm, long before the dinner hour, and had the place to ourselves. We promptly took a seat at the long center table and 2 waitresses took turns giving us GIANT beers and warm hot table pretzels. After our soups we split a homemade karpatzle that rivaled my grandmothers and we just sat... More

My 17 yo son had Wiener Schnitzel at least once a day for the 9 days we were in Germany and Austria and he voted this the best. It is very casual but friendly with great beer and great schnitzel.

If you're in Munich, you need to try Zum Durnbrau. The delicious food and staff can't be beat. Make sure you ask for Andreas, he's very friendly and entertaining!

Came here late on New Years Eve without a reservation. This place was fully booked and packed but Claudia was able to find us the last two spots at the end of the communal table. Wow, were we in luck. Everything about this restaurant is PERFECT. Food, Bier, wine, atmosphere, service. One of the best German restaurant experiences we have... More
