Perfect for larger groups too

Eighteen of us at a conference needed somewhere local to eat that would suit everyone from professors to students, and Al Torchio was perfect. Short walk up from Marian Platz to this very reasonably priced and authetic local Italian just behind university. Ingredients all very fresh, ripe and tasty. Small menu (changes regularly) but very tasty and very friendly and helpful waiters. Highly recommend but recommend you book to avoid dissappointment.

We absolutely love coming here. The food is incredible and everything is very fresh. Pasquale is an amazing cook and Simi's service is fantastic! They have lots of regulars, which gives it a more intimate atmosphere. Everything we have had there, including the special selection of wines, is wonderful.

I can't add much to previous reviews of this place, except to confirm that the general view seems to me absolutely accurate: it's a very small, unpretentious place, with a wonderfully friendly owner, and the food was uniformly excellent, from the beautiful salads to the handmade and luscious pastas to the perfectly prepared fish. Nice wines. We went for lunch,... More

First of all this a very simple place, there are no tablecloths, service is rather basic, but this is accompanied by really good prices and fantastic food, for appetizers we took eggplant baked with cheese, this was good but not great. But the main dish was a real gem: dorada nuda, fish baked in white wine, wow, it tasted magnificently.... More

First off let me say the service was amazing. The guy was nice enough to sneak us in without a reservation which was awesome because we showed up around peak dinner time. He was very friendly and answered all questions about the menu! I had the steak with vegetables. It was cooked really well and and good flavor. The veggies... More

Went off of TA reviews. We had had our fill of German cuisine and beer. Craving something different. This place had a great wine selection. The server was incredibly charming. And the food was very good. A sweet little spot away from the raucous beer chugging crowds.

We checked out the restaurant based on TA ratings. We had a very nice family meal with great food and smiling service. Bread basket with olive oil was a nice energy boost after a longish walk. The salad with calamari had a nice burst of flavour. In the main course we tried roasted fish and beef steak which were both... More

True Italian place in true German surroundings. An oasis of Mediterranean on the concrete-gray street. Menu is short but everything we try was excellent. Extensive is the list of wines. Friendly and quick service. To summarize: place worth to visit, not only if you want to escape from Munchen specialties but mostly if you simply like good food in a... More

Very small restaurant so be sure to make reservations. The food and service are wonderful. I had a whole bronzino and excellent salad with red peppers and mozzarella. Order what you like, but it would be possible to take a "dartboard" approach to ordering -- everything is that good! The staff are very helpful and treat you like family --... More
