This charming Gasthof on the main drag through the Altstadt has good selections at reasonable prices, esp. for a tourism-centric town. We went there a couple of times, lunch, and we're not disappointed. I had the hausgemachte Sülze (like a gelatin terrine of meat pieces) served with oil, vinegar, onions, and hot potatoes. Very good, but the look might turn... More

We enjoyed several meals here on our recent vacation. The Wiener Schnitzel, Cordon Bleu, and other dishes are prepared very well, and the portions are more than ample. Not all the servers speak English, so be prepared to use your dictionary or pocket translator! They would not take our Visa card, so be sure to bring cash. The outdoor seating... More

The food is simple and good portions are bigger then normal for Europe. The beer is typical good German brew, and the atmosphere is very Bavarian. The best part of our time there was the waitress, she was working the whole place by herself and doing a great job. We never had to wait for anything or ask twice. The... More

Living in Germany has me spoiled. It's nearly unheard of to get food within 10 mins of one's order in Germany, and if it comes that fast it was pre-made--and that's what this food tasted like. In the end, it was okay. It wasn't bad but nothing spectacular and definitely not the best meal in town. That may explain why... More

On the first night of our trip it was raining and already dark by the time we went out for dinner. So we ran into the first restaurant with a welcoming appearance that we came across. The first impression of the Gasthof Watzmann was that it was cosy and traditional. We were a little intimidated to be shown into a... More

We stumbled across this delightful looking place and decided to have a late lunch. Nice rose wine and beer, served with a smile although you do need to try and speak some German. With my attempts at basic pigeon German, I had service with a smile. Schnitzel and chips and 4 meats with dumpling. Honest home made food. My portion... More

Called in here because it looked nice from the outside. But the food was disappointing. Strangest 'Schnitzel' I have ever eaten in my life, and being German myself I've had a few!

We visited this restaurant twice - though would not have done so at all had we read the reviews first. I would not say it was brilliant, but German main course meals in most places are very, very expensive (though huge!) and this place had some cheaper dishes that were a smaller size (normal English portions). The staff were helpful... More

In the downtown area of Berchtesgaden. Looks charming from the outside. Unfortunately it was one of the less memorable meals in Berchtesgaden. The first impression is very nice. However the quality of food was not up to par and the prices very high. My husband always eats goulasch soup when it is one the menu. Here it had no meat... More

I would recommend going to this restaurant. Pro: * The staff was friendly * The food was cooked well and in a timely manner * The price of the food was acceptable * The serving size was appropriate for price. * The restaurant and staff appeared to be clean Con: * The toilet facilities were a little bit dark and...
