Kaffee, Kuchen und Flammkuchen

A nice place to visit in the heart of the medieval old town of Ulm. We decided to have coffee and cake outside, despite the gathering storm clouds from the west! Prompt and friendly server, and we finished our cake just in time before the first spots of rain began to fall. We decided to move... read more

The building is very interesting and we were made welcome but we didn't rate the cakes we had very highly. It might be more of a meals and beer drinking place than a coffee shop, so might appeal to a young crowd in the evening. We didn't return.

Given some of the reviews we were a little wary about eating here but it was very close to our hotel and after a long day driving we were tired and needed to eat quickly. We did. Service was speedy and the German style pizza, flammkuchen, was huge and delicious. The schnitzel and cheese noodles were also great. Good range... More

Its a great place by way of ambience both indoors and outdoors but not for dining! Its good place to have some fun time with friends to have a few drinks or beverages. At the most one can go for a salad, but if you want to experience Schwaebish food or other local dishes, then please go somewhere else, not... More

We had a very pleasant dinner at the Ratskeller today. The service was great, the waitress was really kind and smiling. Great food, try the Schwabian specialties and the delicious apple cake :)

Lately the service and the food have gotten worse. One time they got our order wrong and when confronted they got nervous and actually tried to convince us that I got a bad memory and don't remember what I ordered. Two other times they just mixed our orders but then reacted positively in order to correct the problem. The main... More

This was my first time at this restaurant with friends who are locals. We were not disappointed as the food was delicious and a good price. Close to the main car park and square we were able wander before nod after the meal.

It's a biggish place on the bottom floor of the town hall (so very central), with arched ceilings and lots and lots of tables. I had the impression it was meant as somewhere where anybody in town, people in for work, people just shopping, whatever, could get a decent meal at a decent price. It isn't very expensive, anyway. the food is ok, price is acceptable, but this is nothing special. You can defenetly do better in Ulm, for traditional swabian food.

The Ratskeller is perfect place to go when one wants some local simple Swabian food. Don't expect fancy sophisticated food and avoid ordering the higher end dishes on the menu. If you want Sausages, Linsen mit Spätze (lentils with Swabian noodles), Maultaschen (local dumplings) and other plain fare food, Ratskeller is perfect for you. And the beer tastes amazing :)
