Once there was a monastry of the so called "Barfüßer" monks. Since 1990 there is the Barfüßer craft brewery at almost the same place in Ulm. Even if you will not meet any monks anymore, you can come to hear imposing voices, giving songs from the 80ies, 90ies, and from today via the every tuesday karaoke evenings. Alternatively guests can also enjoy the delicious Barfüßer beer in the snuggery or at the terrace amid the inner-city of Ulm.

These guys make one of the best roast pig-legs. Just ask for a Haxe (pronounced Hackser). Yjey make their own beer too - well worth a look.

A pity the food was so salty. The meat was great, the Semmelknödel perfect, but all in all hard to enjoy at these levels of NaCl. Service was nice and the beers, well, the beers are definitely worth a visit. Just drink and you will enjoy it. The hot beer liquor with whipped cream is amazing.

Dear "Frankie-the-Hun"! Thank you for your feedback. Unfortunately we can't correct the salty dish now. Because it is to late. For the next time: Please just tell it to the waiter/waitress and we will rectify the dish promptly. Kind regards, The team of the Barfüßer Ulm More

This place has decent selection of German food. Portions are large and quite tasty. Beer selection is also fully ok. Prices are on average level. But this is not really a bargain place. Service is ok, but could be a bit more attentive. I can recommend this place for those who are looking for uncomlicated German (comfort) food. This is... More

Went there while I was on a business trip in Ulm. The atmosphere was nice, and the waiters were cool and fast. We bought the large barrel of beer and kept drinking till it was empty. I ordered a German traditional plate that was very similar to ravioli. Overall, it was a good experience and the place is highly recommended.

This was a great accidental find for us. We were made very welcome by both the staff and other customers. We tried Swabian noodles for the first time, which were excellent and enjoyed a few glasses of local beer.

Own beer was terrific, food was OK. Good place to visit if you are after some good beer, skip it if you are up to haute cuisine.
