Elegant and well presented

After a long walk from our hotel on a warm evening, it was an oasis of calm and elegance. The scheduled firework display on the old bridge (3 x a year) had brought out the, seemingly, whole population. Not reserved but prepared to wait and have a long cool beer, we were given a table inside, nice... read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Heidelberg. It is quite centrally located in the Old Town. It is good for smaller groups, but I also find it comfortable to eat there solo. The winelist is quite good, with amongst others many fine German wines. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable, also about wine-spice combinations.

Heidelberg is a beautiful little city and this is a lovely restaurant tucked away in the historic old town. Incredibly friendly staff and welcoming ambience. The food was first rate. Superb lamb shank and the iberico set menu was excellent. Highly recommended as this is a serious restaurant without being too formal.

One of the finest restaurant tucked away in the bylanes of market square. The restaurant layout is bit unusual but very welcoming and gives you a feeling of authencity once you have been ushered to your table. The restaurant offers best of class wines and my pick was spanien Rioja. It is a bouquet of rich flavours, very smooth and... More

My husband and I have wanted to try Oksar for a long time, and we finally made a reservation. We are so happy we tried it, and have decided it is our “go to” restaurant in Heidelberg. The food and the service were wonderful. They have a fish, pork, and spargel menu right now, as well as an ala carte... More

This seems a relatively new place in Heidelberg. The evident ambition of the owners is to establish it as one of the top eating places in the city. The food is indeed excellent, high quality ingredients combined with outstanding preparation and presentation. The wine list is short, and the selections show knowledge and good taste. The ambience is special. The... More

Lovley meal. English menu and easy to choose - there's a asparagus menu/ fish menu/ pork menu or you can choose a la carte. I had the fish menu and thoroughly enjoyed every course. Each plate of food was pretty and very tasty. The German equivalent of Proseeco was very good too. No de caff coffee but not unusual in... More

We were unable to get into Simplicissimus because they were booked. So we took their suggestion to try this restaurant, and happy we did. We were a business party of 5. Very well prepared German food, but not heavy German. Service was good. Only negatives were having to walk through bar area that smelled of cigarette smoke in order to... More

While the food and wine was good, what made this for me was the very friendly, smiling and attentive service despite the restaurant being very busy. Recommended.

We normally don’t write any reviews but in this case I thought it’s worth it. My husband and I dined at Oscar’s last Saturday and it was the best meal we’ve had in Germany so far, if not on our entire trip. The food was exceptionally delicious and the waitress was very attentive and helpful. Great wine list with superb... More
