Great atmosphere

We went via Trip Advisors recommendation and glad we did. Once you go in the atmosphere is buzzing. Locals and overseas visitors mix on the warm locale. Great local wines and fantastic local specialities. A must do in Heidelberg

Wife and I just had probably one of the best meals so far in Germany, love the atmosphere the food is awesome and staff really friendly and attentive. The whole share a table concept is a nice touch but we didn't get to experience that ...and I didn't get to practice my duo lingo german "lucky for them" ;). And... More

If u like a German specialty then one is the schnitzel (pork veal flatten, breaded fried) it's not bad matter of fact it's really good. Their are different types of schnitzel (with mushroom sauce(pilz), hunter's sauce(jager sauce) ,cream sauce(rahm).etc)it's a great meal to have before u walk around the castle (walk it off)

Loved this little restaurant- bar. We were lucky - got a table to ourselves, the food came quickly, the beer was cold and enjoyable and the food was tasty. Ordered garlic schnitzel, which is not Breaded but has loads of garlic which was delish and Cordon Bleu schnitzel which I have to confess was my favourite. The two guys serving... More

This place is tiny and therefore reservations are essential. We didn't have a reservation, so after phoning the restaurant on the day and knowing how full they are, we arrived at 17:30, thinking that we'll beat the crowd. To our surprise, the place was already fairly busy, though we were accommodated immediately. People (guests and waitstaff) are very friendly. The... More

Two guys running the show were friendly, the food good, beer good, wine great, and as you share tables, you get to chat to strangers. Had a fine night chatting t guy from Dusseldorf, two locals and an American - all lovely folk. Sound - bread soup and tomato were rich and tasty. My 'halb und halb' was a tasty... More

If you're in Heidelberg and looking for some real german food, this is the spot! It's family-style seating, so you will most likely be sitting next to strangers if you're cool with that. I recommend that you show up as close to open as possible, because it does fill up fast. And for those of you not fluent in German,... More

Had dinner here last August after reading all the positives reviews. The food was great, plentiful and excellent value. We sat out the back which isn't actually open to the elements, just seems to be a Perspex roof over a kind of bamboo wall. People were smoking in this room but politely stopped when we arrived as we had children... More

go to the Schnitzelbank! The benches and tables have been carved into by what looks like centuries of restaurant-goers. The food is authentic German-style: Schnitzel, of course, but also Spätzle and Rostbraten with potato dumplings, Leberknödel. The wine is delightful, you can ask for something that comes from the region. Beer-drinkers will also be more than satisfied. Try something you've... More
