Don't listen to the naysayers on this board. This is a very quaint, original restaurant with very good German food. If you think that every good restaurant should have white tablecloths and a maître d' then don't bother coming.. You won't be missed by the charming owner anyhow there are plenty of other patrons that will be queuing for your... More

My girlfriend and I visited Schnitzelbank again recently and it is definitely one of my favourite restaurants ever. This time I had the Haxe (a massive pork shank) and it was delicious. The service is lovely and the atmosphere is cosy. The food is great value for money. Will definitely return when I am next in Heidelberg.

First of all the food here is amazing, I had the turkey schnitzel with a mushroom sauce and it was perfect. My husband had the peppersteak, which was also amazing. We arrived at around 9 pm on a Saturday night with no reservations. It was busy but we were seated at a communal table with 2 other couples in less... More

I visited this restaurant for a couple of times when I stayed in Heidelberg. This place is originally a carpenter shop so the decoration is rather different from other restaurants in the main street. This restaurant serves very nice German cuisine at a very reasonable price. The staff, though a bit busy, is rather friendly. I especially like the onion... More

Had dinner here on August 7th with my wife and daughter. It was very busy and we ended up at a table that we could only have until 8:00 when a reservation was showing up. I would suggest getting a reservation because we would like to have spent a little more time here (we had from 6:30 to 8:00). We... More

We looked Schnitzelbank up on tripadvisor and decided to go and it was one of our favorite places to eat in all of Europe! The owner Hans was so friendly and fun. The food was delicious, we have schnitzel of course. We also thought it was awesome that only one type of beer was served, only out of bottles, as... More

The key to this place's success is the communal tables. It's dark and chaotic feeling with everyone crammed in cheek by jowl which sounds awful bit it isn't. The food and drink are actually very good if not the best but it's the atmosphere and people you meet that make it great. We chatted for an hour with a couple... More

This is a wonderful little restaurant with great food. Common seating, but the best Schnitzel I had in Heidelberg. Great prices too.

Very impressive setting, good food (huge helpings) and convivial staff despite arriving late. Beer was excellent. Give it a try, but likely to be busy.
