German Food and ambiance

We truly enjoyed this place. Their Goulash, schnitzel, and Veal Milanese with fries were simply delicious, but the ambiance makes you feel truly in a German setting.

I went to the restaurant with my wife basing ourselves on the reviews of Tripadvisor. We were there at 9,30 in the evening and the waiter made us seat in a table of all Italians which we did not know before. Then a German woman joined the table. We stayed together by chance and we shared a very pleasant conversation.... More

Had to come here for the schnitzel experience and it didn't disappoint. Be prepared to share tables with strangers, but this only adds to the atmosphere. Staff were very engaging, the food was top notch and I'd definitely recommend the German red wine, definitely a winner. I would definitely go here again, and again

This is the restaurant I will remember from my Heidelberg visit. Go with an empty stomach, since the portions are large, and the food delicious. Go twice, since you will want the other things on the menu after the first visit. Go with one of the wines to the food, since this is a wine bar, and they know of... More

Went after searching "German food" as it was my last night in Germany. This place did not disappoint. As you walk in its small and smooshed together. It's family style as in you sit with other groups at tables wherever you fit. At first you keep to your self but after a beer and ordering your food you quickly begin... More

When my friends and I arrived to Schnitzelbank , starving, the waiter told us we had to wait a while because the cooker accidentally cut his hand and he was doing his best but cooking a bit slower, we didn't mind so we waited and I swear the waiting was completely worth it! The place is small, the atmosphere is... More

TA came up trumps again with this place. A truly memorable meal made even better with our attentive host Frank. The food is good German fare and the highlight for being the Knopfluk Schnitzel and the Liver dumpling. You really must give the wine a try. Not normally a fan of Reissling but we took a few of Franks recommendations... More

First things first, make your reservations if you want to eat there, and then you will enjoy the best schnitzel around Heidelberg, it is subblime.

I admit it: I was suspicious of the #1 spot but, for quality, friendliness, attentiveness, and overall charm, we loved this small, dark, and cozy place. Is it 5-star cuisine? Not at all. But the food is very good and the entire experience makes it a must-visit. The sausages and Maultaschen were utterly delectable and served with a smile by... More
