I went early tonight (5:15) and was the only one there for a while. The waiter was very friendly and helpful with the menu. I ordered the Wiener schnitzel with fried potatoes and warm kraut salad. It was amazing - not greasy, perfectly crispy, thin, and could be cut without a knife. I strongly recommend it this place!!

Loved this cafe. The waiter was fantastic. We wanted to eat outside even though it was raining and this was possible. Food was awesome and not expensive.

We ate here after reading the reviews on TA. We arrived just as it was opening, so it was not yet crowded. The food was amazing, the atmosphere excellent, and the server/owner? very friendly. It is a wine bar, not a bier garten and the wine was very good - and I am not a big wine drinker. Highly recommend

We just had lunch here today while in Heidelberg. I found it on Tripadvisor and was not disappointed. The place is located just off the Hauptstrasse on a small side street. You have to go through a small hallway and then you are inside. The restaurant is named for the barrel making device, not for the food. The waiter was... More

It has the better rewies in your site..well maybe not by chance..A nice place but with small room where somebody could have an original schnitzel with excellent flavour..and I could say good enough prices concerning the area (Altstadt). It has a traditional character and friendly personel..certainly worths a night with schnitzel and traditional beer or wine..

It's like stepping back 500 years - carved wood tables, overflowing platters of food and warm ambiance. Place was packed so we had to sit with two strangers and created two friends by the end of the evening. We are vegetarians, they were very accommodating. Totally recommend this off the beat and path experience (in Aldstadt - old town).

Authentic dining experience in the aldstadt, Heidelberg. Easy to find and easily one of the best meals I had in Germany, so much so I had to come back a second time. We had the schnitzel salad special which was huge and so reasonable in price, couple that with the beer ( i think there's one type only which is... More

This restaurant has excellent schnitzel (many varieties) of course, but also great salads and local vegetables. It has a charming atmosphere - geumuetlich (cozy) as they say here. You sit at tables together with others and plenty of memorabilia, items of historical interest, etc., line the walls. There is also a small Biergarten in the back. Of the restaurants serving... More

Well worth a visit but be prepared to share a table and not the most comfortable seating. Food and service great.
