The restaurant has a michelin star and you can see why. The experience is quite formal, almost old-fashioned - by no means modern or trendy - from the dark wooden decor to the excellent service. The food is French with good sized portions. The wine card is pretty substantial, especially for the local Baden wines. Highly recommended.

Waited 1 hour for mains. Took 15 minutes to even get a drinks menu. Took 10 minutes to even get water. Food was all mixed up with some of the items being on the wrong plates. This happened to other tables too. Taste was OK but nothing amazing. Wait staff seemed nice but mixed up so many orders that we... More

The flagship restaurant in this very fine hotel convenient to the town center. The decor recreates a Baden /Black Forest atmosphere with lots of dark wood. It makes for a very peaceful, calm atmosphere. Food is excellent, France inspired with German portion sizes. We tried their seasonal menu for lunch and were nicely surprised by every dish - excellently prepared... More

A high quality meal on our first night in Freiburg. Its a fine dining experience with service and prices to match. We enjoyed it but it is expensive and it would be difficult to eat here every evening.

This was a disappointment. My dinner was good but due to a breakdown in communication my husband didn't get what he ordered. He did got what we consider an appetizer and we should have realized something was wrong when I got my meal and he didn't. When we spoke to the head waiter, he felt bad but didn't really apologize.... More

Lobster and pigeon both were excellent. Good advice for a small bottle of burgundy. Champagne by the glass served from a magnum bottle which I think tastes better. The interior decoration of heavy woodcraft might well need a more modern interpretation. Nice to see how the staff has close relations with regular guests. Certainly a place to come back to.

I went with my wife, we had a seasonal and a smaller seafood menu and found both outstanding. Pricing is absolutely reasonable, excellent service. We are not really sure if the 2 starred Ammolite in Rust is that far ahead of the Zirbelstube. We highly recommend the Zirbelstube.

When you choose a starred restaurant you have legitimate high expectations. You are looking for excellence and not for low prices. The foreword is necessary to understand the remainder of my review. Let's start from the setting, that was ecellent. Wooden stube with very confortable tables, a good mixture of modern and classic. Really impressive. Waiters are dressed in traditional... More

This hotel and its' restaurants are amongst one of the best in the world. The Chef's standards are legendary --and if you sit near the kitchen you can hear the clatter of his rejections from the sous chefs! Outstanding food--and for a Michelin star restaurant it's great value for the wide choice of both food and wines. Rooms are lovely... More
