Traditional Badischer food at Munsterplatz. Really recommend the schweinhaxe with the local beer. Charming second floor with a stunning view of the church.

I have eaten at a couple of the restaurants by the Munster in Freiburg before and was never very impressed. However, this one was certainly above average. I hada cold meats plate that was very tasty and my son had some good spatzle with his pork. Service was good, including some nice locally brewed beer.

Right beneath the cathedral in a large open square, lunch was good value and portions large which is great for hungry cycle tourists. Beer us good but we preferred Feierling Brauerei a few streets over.

Fantastic location next to the Munster. Ate outside- meals were very good local dishes. The local brew- Ganter wheat beer is one of the best I found in Germany. Wonderful clove notes. I want some here at home! Good service and the prices were reasonable.

The food was really good, so was the location and general atmosphere of this place facing the cathedral. We very much enjoyed our time. When we asked for the bill, the waitress (whose full name and surname were on the bill...) asked if we wanted to add a tip. We declined thinking if want to we can always leave change,like... More

"Essen ?"... "Trinken ?" ..... strange waitresses; do they have a German language problem ? Ordering sirloin steak; nobody asked how we wanted them cooked ? Luckily, the kitchen can read minds and a perfect medium-rare steak came. So 10 points for the kitchen; 3 for the service personnel.

Very nice brewery/restaurant ideally located in the center of Freiburg near the cathedral. It serves excellent Schwarzwald specialties with large portions at a very reasonable price. Service is also great. I recommend this restaurant when visiting the city!

No pretense. Simple and tasty typical German food that is served in abundance. The service is prompt and professional. The red wine is excellent. A whole meal for two people plus a generous glass of red wine and two large beers came to 60 euros service included. We really had our fill.

In the shadow of the cathedral, you could expect a bit of the 'St Marks Square' syndrome for such restaurants, particularly as when we approached the service staff were traditionally dressed. Luckily for us they had an English menu (albeit with an American flag on it!!) Schnitzel jumped out at us, and the price was reasonable, so three of us... More

Backed by a stall selling bird whistles and another selling every type of brush imaginable, we find this great restaurant, with a huge terrace sheltered by umbrellas and a cosy interior. At a shaded outside table, we are refreshed with Aperol spritz, a summer drink. I enjoy a local favourite, schnitzel, which in Germany is almost always made of pork,... More
