Great place for a quick bite or a drink

Great pub atmosphere, reasonable prices, though with a limited menu. Several vegetarian options. Be sure to use the restrooms - seriously - they're great! Different parts of the pub have very different vibes, so walk through before you commit to a table (unless it's crowded, then just grab one!).

I have been in this pub on the way back home from the Christmas market. It's very close to the main square and the main street with shops. A place always full of people and young guys from university. I got here grilled turkey with baked potatoes and a couple of beers of course. Food choise is a bit limited,... More

This place is paradise. Lots of different areas to sit in so there are different atmospheres to be enjoyed. A very, very wide range of drinks available including specialty whiskies and beers (of course). The food is typical German and is of good quality and a generous portion from a range of quite acceptable snacking foods to full meals. Staff... More

I was surprised to find something that good at Freiburg! Me and my friend went there for a quick bite and loved the place. A traditional german pub with delicious food and a variety of beers. We paid 15€ for a pizza, spaghetti and beers. Very logical price! Although i wanted more choices on the menu!

My husband and I have been visiting this restaurant for many years. We do not eat anywhere else when in Freiburg. Place is always busy so service is rushed, but friendly enough. Very good tarte flambees and I recommend the grosse Kartoffel Teller.

Bring your appetite! Schleppen has a menu that is both HUGE on portions and taste but Small in price. A meal for three with 2 rounds of drinks is around 50euros. How can you beat that!! We have been here twice and both times were not disappointed. Everyone is welcome, children, dogs but not smokers....they sit outside. A refreshing experience.... More

The Schlappen is a must-see bar in the centre of Freiburg. There's always a great atmosphere (unless you're too snobby for a 'studenty' pub) and the food portions are big and delicious. They have a big selection of whiskey to choose from as well as a heap of tasty beers and cocktails. Have visited many a time over the past... More

If you are visiting Freiburg and want insight into a old and traditional student bar, this is the place to go. My father went there when he was young and me and my friends still enjoy going there for a good night out. This is where 21+ student community meets up for beers, shots and drinks at any night of... The place is very nice, old '70 style, wooden tables, posters. Very nice atmosphere and nice people around :) But forget the food ! Drink a good beer and take a salad! That is it!

A cosy bar with selection of beers plus a mean G+T! An eclectic mix of clientele which makes for a convivial atmosphere. Great service too, plus English spoken. You must go downstairs to view the loos, quirky decor....life size stainless steel torsos with intriguing secret doors & flaps to open. Bar is old style with decor that includes the odd... More
