This is a must-go for visitors in Freiburg. It's not so much a restaurant, so don't expect it to be one. It's a large hall with several little booths of different kinds of food, Brazilian, Argentinian, Indian, Afghan, Chinese, Sushi, Badisch (typical from here), Italian, and more. The price is slightly above regular restaurants, but well worth the ambiance. Try... More

It is tiny, crowded and very odd selection of different ethnic foods. There is also no where to sit to eat.

We went to the marketfhalle and selected dishes from various cuisines. Beer and wine were available. My son loved the fresh tortellini with ham and cheese at Il Boccone (in the corner).

If you are in Freiburg you have to visit the "Markthalle". Great food and drinks. Different in the morning, afternoon and especially at night.

The Markthalle is perfect for a group of friends who are a bit picky. There is something for everyone and the prices are reasonable. I really enjoyed the Alsace stand and had hands down THE best Nutella & banana crepe! It was perfectly done and very tasty. The downside is that this place is often incredibly crowded.

I normally choose a pasta from the Italian place at the end of the hall and take it to the osteria on the right side of the enterance ang get a vino de casa there and enjoy the meal on a proper table. Many people don't know that you can take your food in osteria if you order your drinks... More

I visited Freiburg just for the day from Colmar over the border in France. It is a glorious city and there is so much to see I didn't want to spend too much time on lunch. By chance I came across the old Market Hall (Kaiser-Joseph-Strasse 233) which has been converted into a huge Food Court. The range of cuisines... More
