Ate here several times this season, with great food every time. However I was disappointed to find English speaking companions treated very rudely by the serving staff. The set menu with wine is exceptional value- just make sure to bring an authentic French speaker to get the most from the bottomless house red!

Seems to be a very authentic and the raclette was incredible (as was the escargot ;). One of the best meals in Val d'isere (though there were many good ones !). The waitstaff was very friendly with us and the atmosphere was charming. We were the first ones to arrive, but soon the place was filled happy diners.

I have dined at this restaurant most years when in Val d'Isere over the last 25 years or so. The service can often be poor but the atmosphere and authentic Savoie food was worth it. However when I tried to book this year I was answered with "sorry fully booked bye" - click. I had several evenings available but did... More

A typcial Savoyard restaurant made great by the quality of the charcuterie, cheese and meat they use. Lovely and warm and friendly. We had the steak fondue although there was a three course meal on offer we couldn't have done it justice so preferred to pay the extra for the fillet.

The L'Arolay waiter with his unique charm served me the tastiest cheese fondu together with cold meats, salad and bread topped off with a bottle of wine. This is a lovely French restaurant filled with its own ambiance and charm. On a winters day when the snow was too heavy to snow we sat in here for a couple of... More

This has to go down as the best restaurant on the slopes i've been to. 4 of us met up for lunch, 3 travelling down from the fornet cablecar and one via the free bus from Val d'Isere, an easy 5 minute ride and 30 second walk away! L'Arolay is a chalet style restaurant set just off the main road... More

Exceptionally good restaurant at the bottom of the Fornet cablecar. Far better than most of the mountain restaurants. So good we went twice. Worth booking to avoid disappointment because it is well known.

8 of us rendezvous'd here on 9th January 2014. We all had excellent meal/rose despite the "random" service ! It's a wonderful position close to ski lift at Le Fornet so good for skiers to meet with the novices. Heartily recommended for lunch.

We visited L'Arolay during our chalet staffs night off. Having read the reviews we were somewhat forewarned on what to expect, but it was very close to our accommodation so opted to give it a go. The restaurant has a lovely ambience with real fire and large oak tables. We were shown to our table and given menu's but it... More

This place used to be charming and we used to have a warm welcome... They now look down at you when you arrive and you have to be very grateful if they give you a table... The service is very bad and very rough....you feel you are served by waiters in a train station... They bang your glass ,spill some... More
