A brasserie that has something special to offer

If you do not want to eat in a top notch restaurant but still want to enjoy some good traditional Lyonaise cooking in a nice setting, L'Est should be on your short list of restaurants. This is a Bocuse's franchise. The food is OK but not that great and it's quite expensive. But the very problem is that the room is very very noisy which is a problem for business lunch or even family or friend's one. You got a real headache because of this.

We visited this restaurant, part of the magnificent Gare de L'Est building, some years ago. It is still immaculate, offering excellent food at reasonable prices. Food is quality brasserie fare, staff excellent. A half hour stroll from the river Saône, with several brasseries around the area. It's fun, very French and has a miniature train running around the cornice!

My wife and I visited here based on the fact that it was owned by renowned chef Paul Bocuse. Food was average, service was terrible. I wouldn't recommend this place because frankly it is below the standard Lyon has to offer. There are plenty more restaurants that are cheaper and better quality with friendly service. Not sure what Paul Bocuse... More

First impressions are busy but efficient - a table is found, we are seated and then a wait. Our orders for two (specific) glasses of white wine as an aperitif ar taken, but then they don't come. Followed by confusion about which wines? When they arrive they are ice cold and we wonder that the condrieu tastes unlike any we... More

This place came recommended by locals. The food was quite good, but the positive stops there. This resto seats a lot of people, I would say over 100. It's very very loud and not in a "good atmosphere" way. The French's reputation for, low-quality service was well maintained in t his setting. The decor was nice, but so are most... More

Bad Service and boring food. They seem to be annoyed by foreign customers. Food was pretty expensive for what little you get.

Well myself, my niece, and a friend went to this restaurant with the recommendation of our tour guide. We were greatly disappointed with quality, quantity, and service. We went in at 7:45 and we didn't leave until 9:45. We saw everybody get served and leave the restaurant before we started eating anything. And we only ordered the Entrees and not... More

L'Est is one of Paul Bocuse's many restaurants We had a 3 course set menu with coffee, dessert but no wine. The meal was good but not remarkable, we were expecting more flavor The cost was 109.79 euros. The desserts were delicious - chocolate volcano and strawberries and cream.

We were staying across the road and had Brasserie L'est recommended to us. There was a large menu and we were directed to the 3 course dinner for € 26 where you could choose between 2 dishes for each course. We were very happy with our varied selections and the service was outstanding, delighted to have two waiters who had both... More
