Great food and great wine !!The service was really good too!!We loved the pot with cornichons that were served at the beginning !Highly recommended!!
A cosy small buchon serving very good to excellent simple traditional fare. Friendly staff who seemed to know all of the clients on a Friday night. Good choice of specials not usually encountered. Only disappointment was the very short wine list of local wines.
We're not fans of offal but we knew we had to try this bouchon, one of Lyon's greats. We booked by phone a few weeks before going to France without any problem, although February is probably not a peak time. While people around tucked into squares of fried tripe and various tube-filled sausages with gusto, we had beautifully tender veal... More
We were here two years ago and couldn't get back in last year- a sign of its popularity. The restaurant is packed and you need to be friendly with your neighbours. The servings are generous. I had a rillette of porc for starters and it was enough for all four of us or as a meal of its own. I... More
Le Garet is something of a self fulfilling prophesy as far as tripadvisor is concerned, most of the Buchons have been doing the same thing for decades so its hard to find any that are truly terrible at doing this style of food.Le Garet is packed all the time, with tourists from France as well as elsewhere due to its... There are so many restaurants in Lyon claiming to be bouchons so a little research is necessary if you want something as authentic as Le Garet. Booking ahead, as we did, is essential. We visited on a freezing, snowy December day and the 'chaleur' was the perfect antidote for the cold weather we left outside for an outstanding couple of... More
We booked this in advance on the advice of our hotel and were very glad we did! By 7.30pm the locals were flooding in and within minutes there wasn't a spare table and were turning people away throughout the evening. They offer a la carte, specials and a set menu and whilst there are a lot of local dishes the... More
This was one of the best meals I had during my backpacking trip - highly recommended! Plus they have an English menu, which helped.
Highly recommended by the owners of our B&B as typical Lyonnais fare. Could be difficult to get a reservation but our hosts commandeered one for us. Casual atmosphere; full of locals rather than tourists; lots of hustle and bustle but very entertaining. Don't be put off by the fact that all parts of the animal(s) are used as the food... More
Small restaurant that was packed with locals on the night we we're there. I started with the Herring fillets with a warm potato and onion salad in oil and vinegar, loved it! I had to try the Cervelle de veau meunière (calves brains) and enjoyed very much. The service was great! The owner was very nice and gave us great... More
