Le Vieux Lyon offers a reasonable plat du jour and well-price wine - and that was reason enough to go into the restaurant. The other was to escape the rain. The food was simple, edible and the service was fine. What made this a fun lunch, though, was the banter between the waiter, chef and some of the other diners... More

My daughter & took a day trip to Lyon with her 1 year old son. She has had a meal here in the past & suggested we stop for lunch. Although it was late October is was pleasent enough to sit outside. Waiter was very effecient & made sure to cater to our little one in his stroller. Excellent Onion... More

Great to wander around the old town, going down lots of narrow cobblestoned streets, away from the main thoroughfare, visiting a number of traboules, many of which were shut when we visited, but we saw enough to understand their importance to life in Le Vieux Lyon both in the past and now. Lots of restaurants and other shops along the... More

The narrow streets of the old city are a real attraction, no wonder why it has become a world heritage centre by Unesco.

We stopped here on a hot and crowded lunchtime. My assiette de mere was a few rough and ready pieces of cold meat and my husband's salade Lyonnaise was very average. The bread wasn't particularly fresh either. I wouldn't have minded but for food of that quality, it wasn't cheap. Service was efficient but the owner didn't seem happy that... More

Don't expect a warm welcoming from them when there's a lot of people. The lady that seems to own the place is not really nice nor is she at service, when you have to ask countless times for water or anything. Food was ok though. Tarte à la praline is really good, as well as the gratin dauphinois which is... More

Me and five colleagues went through the old city of Lyon and stopped at this nice little restaurant and had dinner outside. Our waitress was very friendly and warm and helped us selecting the food, although none of us speaks french and she spoke English very well. The food was excellent, nothing to complain. They only serve beer in bottles,... More

We had lunch here and were very disappointed by the quality of the food. The lamb tasted very bitter and didn't taste fresh. When we spoke to the waiter he was very dismissal and just made a joke about it. The other salmon dish was very overcooked with little taste. Overall, very disappointing service and food.

This restaurant claims to be a traditional bouchon – but probably isn’t. That said, we were here on a rainy evening in May and the food was decent, though I thought we paid too much as these were ‘old town’ prices – especially for the wine. We ate traditional food too: though my salad of calves feet and lentils was... More

... apart from us, of course! Lyon is known as the gastonomic capital of France, and as we were exploring the old city around noon on a wet day, we decided to look for somewhere to eat. There are a lot of eateries in the old quarter all vying for trade - those that approach you as you walk along... More
