Unfortunately, we chose to eat at Le Comptoir des Liars on our second (and last) night in Lyon. Our stay in this lovely city was overshadowed by what I can only call a terrible dining experience. We understand that we are slightly handicapped in France as Americans who don't speak French. When we ordered, we were concerned that the items... More

We just ate at this restaurant. We both ordered two different chicken dishes. Before we ordered, we asked our waitress if they both were indeed chicken. She assured us they were. When our food finally came out by a different waiter, he asked which of us ordered the duck. Neither of us did. He then went back to the kitchen... More

Got here by coincidence, on our first visit to Lyon ever.. just looking for lunch, and having a hard time to make a choice between all possibilities in rue des Maronniers. A 2013 Gault Millau recommendation did the trick. even though it was busy, we were assisted in a friendly, welcoming, and no-nonsense manner.. Food was great (chicken liver salad... More

We've chosen this restaurant to have a dinner on my birthday. As we observed. it is rather popular with locals. We liked salads, especially salade d'ete. Then we ordered Black Angus steak with pepper sauce (it was a bit too hot, but I liked it) and some bird with mushroom sauce. The menu said, it was chicken, but I guess... More

We picked it out from the many on offer in this part of Lyon and were not disappointed. I opted for the set menu at 19€ and can say that it was excellent value for money. I will go back when i get the chance and have the Suprême de Poulet again as it was stunning!!

My husband and I ate here tonight. He had the Angus steak with pepper sauce and I had the braised chicken with mushroom sauce. Unfortunately we cannot agree with the other reviewers and found our meals to be awful. Probably the worst I've ever had. Chicken was smelly, dark chicken leg, over cooked shredded vegetables, horrible mushroom sauce with tasteless... More

I took one of the menu set and enjoyed every dish I had - foie, frog's legs, cheese and cream brulee. Everything was tasty.

The menu is typical of modest restaurants in Lyon: plenty of options which include varieties of sausages, terrines and pates, and fairly cheap cuts of beef. Very pleasant atmosphere, acceptable cotes du Rhone by the carafe. Count on spending about 20 euros for a three course set menu. Located in a charming cobbled street near the Place Bellecour at 8... It probably says something that I couldn’t remember this meal and had to look at my notes ... Another pleasant, busy little restaurant in Rue des Marronniers. Same sort of menu that one finds everywhere in Lyon. I had saucisson brioche (weird) with (another) mustard sauce, partner has Salad Lyonais. My main was magret de canard with a ref fruit... More

There's plenty to choose from on that street and we took our chances. Great food (great desserts...) and nice service. Too bad our next table neighbours were so loud...
