Loved this small cozy restaurant. Superb service, excellent dishes and great atmosphere. Lyon is said to be the gastronomic capital of France. This restaurant for sure attributes to the claim.

Ivan the owner chef is a nice friendly person and very keen to please, but the restaurant is over-busy and now becoming too stretched to provide the good quality we expect and that Ivan wants. The menu was too 'clever' with too many dishes. The quality was average. There were over 110 people booked and Ivan told me he was... More

We were a bit early, so the owner was still cleaning the place. He offered to keep our laptop bags so we could go for a drink... We came back and had a delicious 3 course meal with foi gras, duck, chocolate moelleux and a fancy foie gras macaron with sparkping wine as a starter. All for EUR 26! Fantastic... More

If you happen to walk by this place before its opening you’ll be perplexed. It is not a place which draws people. Just a small menu outside, some newspapers articles displayed in the windows near the door. The interior is not tempting because is as old as the exterior. There are only a small dining room near the counter and... More

Excellent food, something for everyone on the menu. The dishes are relatively elaborate but still grounded--the quality of the basic cuisine is not masked by an attempt to pull fancy stunts. At the time of writing the menu for entree/plats/dessert at 26EUR is incredible value for the quality. Also the portions are perfectly sized, neither too big not too small.... More

cosy place. The food was gorgeous - totally against mainstream. Really a taste adventure I've never had before. Pricing fair especially for Lyon and the quality of food. Service at its best (Thanks Ivan)

The options offered when I went were amazing. I could have taken everything on the menu! I went with a couple others and fortunately did get to try a bit of theirs. It was all amazing. I especially loved the pain d'épices macarons and the sablé breton for dessert. The prices were not too high either, and the service was... More

Probably one of Lyon's best kept secrets. Located on a small street with plenty of restaurants, La Gargotte is a prime example of the excellent cuisine Lyon has to offer at a reasonable price. We had a three course dinner, with every dish exceeding the previous in quality and display. Ivan, the patron of the place was super friendly and... More

Forget the Bellecour tourist traps and get along to this place! No menu posted outside during the day so I guess it might change frequently. We were greeted with a very warm and friendly welcome from proprietor Ivan. Great range of choices on the menu, 5 for each course, packed with interesting combinations. Ivan was very happy to translate the... More
