So different from the many 'clinical' restaurants

What a wonderful change from many city restaurants - a real family feel, a welcoming atmosphere. Friendly tolerance of non French speakers who really appreciate the food and the country style atmosphere. A place I visit every time I get to Lyon.

I was visiting my brother whom I hadn't seen in over 10 years and we happened to find this great restaurant on the web. The name fit perfectly for our occasion. The food was outstanding and the service was the best. I'm writing this review several months later and I can still remember the taste of our meal! They have... More

When you walk in the door you are made to feel like a welcome guest, here for a festive evening. We were given cheerful answers to our questions about the wines and certain menu items. You are able to see right into the kitchen, and it was obvious that everything was served the minute it was ready. The pear-bleu cheese... More

This place is amazing. A small, family-run restaurant in Old Town was out of this world. After a beet-puree complimentary starter, the house salad with shrimp and a huge slab of pate foie gras sent us to the moon! The scallops I had on my first visit (yes, we went back!) were huge, succulent and beautifully presented. You feel like... More

This place meets a certain standard for restaurants in France run by an older couple. None of the clientele are very demanding quality-wise and the people keep rolling in. We found the food edible but there were no surprises and there was quite a lot of evidence of short-cuts in the cooking, eg "bouillabaise" made from basic bottled fish soup.... More

in a city of wonderful restaurants, this stands out. A family business the service is very personal and the food simple but with complex flavours and tastes. The cheese was outstanding and the cooked clementine dessert quite amazing. Wine was high quality and two of us ate for €90! Can't wait to return and recommend highly

The Rue Boeuf has a large number of good restaurants. We were recommended to come here by the owner of our apartment, and were most impressed. The €25.50 menu was excellent - I would especially recommend the duck in fig sauce - and the service was very friendly. The restaurant was full yet with only one waitress and two kitchen... More

After 2 weeks in southern France, we arrived in Lyon for 3 days. We wandered one day on the Rue Boeuf, looking for a place to eat that night. At the end of the street, we came across Les Retrouvailles, with its green shutters partially open, the door half open and the chef inside. The place looked so inviting we... More

This experience was like being invited into someones home. Someone who was an top notch french chef and host. We made a reservation (a must) early in the morning. The restaurant was not open but the owner was there preparing for the evening meal. When we arrived for dinner our server was very fluent in English and assisted us in... More

A wonderful dinner on our first night in Lyon. Madame was personable, friendly, and patient with our halting French. The food was simple and satisfying, and the desserts (inviting displayed on a large table in the center of the restaurant) exceptionally good. A very pleasant and memorable experience.
